Slight difference in RPMs at any gear/speed.

Adventure till you drop.

The 3.55's will feel a bit more "lively" and accelerate slightly faster. Although YMMV -- theoretically, the 3.15's should get better mpg and be quieter on the freeway, as you will be turning less rpm.
I take it you are talking about getting the A6?

If you are getting the auto do NOT get the 3.55s. If you are getting a stick I'd get the 3.55s tho.

What's wrong with auto 3.55?

First and second gears in the A6 are very low (high numerically). Kind of the best of both worlds to have the 3.15's and still being quick off the line (or 0 to 60) that better matches available traction, and nice and quiet, fewer rpm's (and potentially more mpg) at highway speeds.
Also -- especially in "SPORT" mode, the throttle application is pretty aggressive. I've done the "herky-jerky" in second gear a couple of times when hitting a bump in a corner that causes any slight jerking of the gas pedal. I imagine this would be worse with the 3.55's.

That's why I said "theoretically" in my responses.........there's really only a few % points difference between the two anyway.
There -- did I make up for it?

3.55s in an auto GT means you are slower than someone with 3.15s or 3.31s. The way the auto is geared, those are the optimal 2 with the 3.31s being slightly better.

Most SC'd A6's stay with a lower (numerically) gear......from what I've read here.

You should go to a 3.31 if you already have a 3.55 gear yes. Or back to 3.15s if you still have them.

There is a minimal difference between 3.15's and 3.55's. One thing to consider is the 3.15's have a different axle housing so you cannot just swap gears with it. Most autos on the dealer lots have 3.15's but don't let that sway you.

I have 2K miles on my A6 3:55 car. Its a blast. If you plan to SC the car later I wouldn't make any changes yet. Wait till you find a reason to change. Until then don't. You may find you like it just fine.

By the way after the SC will you take it to the drags? If so you'll want to switch the entire differential to a cast iron one and you can get the gears you want then.

Hello

it appears that Ford is offering 60 month no interest financing on Mustangs now through 14 April, 2016

Kind of a no brainer if you are looking to upgrade.

Okay, don't give them another thought then. They will be fine either N/A or with F/I down the road.
