Upgraded to a 2015 GT!

Hey guys! Long time! I used to hang on these forums about a year ago or so. Since then, I deployed with the Canadian Navy to take part in Joint Operations across the world . I just arrived home last week after circumnavigated the globe. I got home and took my 14gt out of storage. I took it to Ford for an oil change and decided to test drive a 16' while I waited. They tried really hard to sell me one, but unless they could match my current set up , which seemed unrealistic given the dramatic difference in closing cost between my 14 and a new GT . In any case, I was actually fortunate enough to have Ford value and offer 4K over what I still owed on it (after July 30 months on a 72 month term). I found a Track pack GT in deep impact blue, which I had been wanting since I saw one on the road. I would've preferred regular air and heated seats but I got the recaros. Anyways, I'm glad to be back home and I couldn't be happier with my new car. I didn't think I could get into a S550 so quickly . I loved my 14' , but I couldn't help but look at every 15+ I saw drive past. Now I don't have to because there will be one right outside my window !

I'm hoping to reconnect with the community and start modding . The only thing I'm really missing about my 14' is the Roush axle backs

What sold you on the S550 besides the interior and exterior?

Nice fallout background btw.

To be honest, I loved everything about my 2014. This purchase was entirely opportune. The car offers refined handling , which is really enjoyable in the curvy and hilly roads of Vancouver Island. I liked the speed in my 14, but I love it in my 15. It just feels so connected and poised. It's hard to describe. Other than that, the looks grew on me and I couldn't resist it. The paint colour is sublime and the styling just really turns heads. I know it seems bizarre given that I traded in a recent car for it , but I have no regrets. To each their own is really the only way to explain this kind of thing since a lot of 11-14 owners , including myself (formerly) were not huge fans of the new car at the unveiling. Like a lot of guys , the car really stunned me in person and I changed my mind rather quickly .

What do you think about it? I know lots of guys aren't thinking of trading in their s197's yet.

I drove the S550 when they first came out and honestly... wasn't impressed with how it drove. In fact, I would consider it a side-grade. The straight line speed is the same, handling is the same though more refined.

I really liked the interior but I think the exterior is horrible. Every time I see one, I can't help but think how that design made it off paper at Ford. That's just my opinion, a lot of people like it, I'm just not one of them.

Nearly everyone I know that owned or owns a 2011+ S197 says similar things about the new car... nice interior, differing opinion on exterior, better driving, same performance.

Most everyone was waiting on the sixth gen Camaro, now that it's out... nearly everyone that had interest in the S550, are either going with a Challenger or a Camaro.

Been watching this thread. Personally I think your 2014 looked better but what matters is what YOU like better. You seem super stoked and happy about the 2015 so big congrats to you and your new ride.

I know that's all it comes down to. I'm actually really happy to own a car that isn't silver. I've had two silver mustangs and I just couldn't find a nice colour at the right time. I'd been thinking of getting into a BMW M3 of a few years back and this car kind of brings some European styling with good ol fashion Ford vroom under the hood. I would've missed the noise had I gone with BMW, although M cars make very nice noises in their own way!

Forgive me if I sound off on this, but aren't catch cans more of a mod for a turbo/SC'd car ?

Actually, the Coyote engine needs the catch can, and it should be installed by Ford at the factory since they now market one.

Beautiful color Beautiful car

I've owned 3 previous mustangs 5.0 1985, & 87, and the 4.6 2010, and now the 2015. Like you when I saw the unveiling of the 2015 I thought they made a mistake. The 2005 to 2014 were too nice to change and I was pissed that I didn't wait a year to get the 5.0 in 2011. I went and took a test drive with a 2011 in 2011, loved it. I went in 2015 and took a test drive in a 2014 because I liked the looks better than the 2015 and again what a drive. On a whim I went with my son who was telling me the 2015 was the deal, I actually thought I'd show him how wrong he was. When I saw this black on black with 19 inch tires and black rims I started reconsidering! On the test drive I fell for my 4th Mustang and the price was too good to pass on.
I've not regretted the purchase since. The look really grew on me and the drive is unreal. In my experience with Mustangs this is the smoothest most powerful ( of course ) and most comfortable I've ever had the pleasure of driving! You can't go wrong with it. Congrats and welcome home!

You're completely right ! Congrats on the new car aswell! The 10-14's were beautiful machines , modern reflections of the muscle car era. The new mustang is elegant , poised and sporty. Anyways I love mine and that's all that counts

You're not the only one. I've kinda considered trading my 14gt or a 16 white gt with the performance pack. I love the looks and interior of the car. The only thing holding me back is I've done too much to my 14 in modifications and I know ford wouldn't give me a dime for them. Financially I just dont see it. Like you, if I were offered a killer deal I'd probably pull the trigger as well.. guess I'll never know unless I go.

I'm actually wondering if you test drove a LT1 Camaro or a 6.4L Challenger to compare as well. Or if that was completely not even a consideration. I mean for some ppl it isn't.

Drove the 2015 Camaro

I didn't drive the newest Camaro but I did drive the 2015 with premium package. The fact is it didn't feel as light as the mustang. It felt way heavier not as responsive. I understand the 2016 Camaro is supposed to be a beast but for the money the Mustang is a whole lot better option. I don't actually feel you can go wrong with any of the three contenders, but as my past experience shows I like the Mustangs they just feel lighter and more responsive.

The 2015 Camaro and 2016 Camaro are a completely different platform and a brand new way more powerful engine. Kinda hard to have a legit basis for opinion on the 2016 Mustang vs the 2016 Camaro and not have driven one of them.

I don't for the 2016

That's why I said it was based on the 2015 test drives. But if you went to a Chevy dealer and priced out a 2016 Camaro and a Ford dealer and priced out a 2016 Mustang for the money I'm sure you'd do better with a Mustang. The Camaros are a lot more expensive so I question whether they are worth the difference. That being said your right I haven't test drove the Camaro and the Mustangs haven't changed much from 2015. I guess I'll have to test drive one and see if it's worth it.

I don't care for them. If I wanted a really fast car, I wouldn't bother buying something with 4 seats. I made my decision based on looks and feel. Besides if people had always chosen their pony cars based solely on performance and numbers, the mustang would've died off in the 80's. I don't care how many extra ponies the Chevy gets and how much you guys like it. I don't understand why this car gets so much hate here . To each their own i suppose ?

As for the background , it's pretty simple. You can either edit your own picture or find one online. Just google My Ford Touch Background and browse away. The demanded resolution is 800x384 or something like that. The system will remind you as you attempt to upload them. Place the images on a USB stick and then connect it to your car. Then you follow this Menu>Display>Edit Wallpaper>Add. Once it's uploaded you just press save and there you go. You can have 34 images saved in your MfT . If you're lazy , here are some I found on the Focus ST forums

http://www.focusst.org/forum/focus-s...thread-51.html

Enjoy!

If you want a reminder of why you went with the 2015/16 Mustang GT back it into your garage and look at the front of it with the headlights on! Mean looking is an understatement!
