Tires

So I had my 15 base GT (non PP) serviced yesterday. Still have the stock Pirelli P-Zero tires on it. Car has 20,500 miles and it looks like the tires will need to be replaced at the next 5k service interval. Haven't intentionally smoked the tires, not driven real hard, and tires rotated at every oil change.

Anyone else have tires wear out that fast? Any recommendations on a tire that will last more than 25k miles. I won't buy another set of pirellis because I'm not replacing tires every 16 months. Ideas?

You need an all season or summer or what? For Summer I'd look at the BFG Comp 2s or Mickey Thompson Street Comps.

For all seasons get Continentals.

Pirelli Cinturato 255/40R19 is what I replaced my summer only tire with as soon as I got it home and I'm very happy with the reduced sound and wet weather traction. When it snows it's parked but cold weather or rain it's on the road.
I have 20k+ on them and a butt load of tread to go...

The stock Perelli suck. I got 12,000. As for other tires I was not a fan of the Sumitomo HZR III, I did like the Nitto INVO for grip and longevity. I am still undecided on Bridgestone Protenza S Pole Position.

The Sumitomo had good life but not traction. The tires that come on new cars are less quality than their retail counter parts. Usually to save car company money. Decide which is more important. longevity or grip.... cant have both

I second the Continental DWS's. They work fantastically.

If you are looking for a summer tire look at the Cooper RS3. Those are the ones that are jointly designed for the Roush builds by Cooper and Roush. Great tire. Quiet, and sticky. Handle very nice! Look great too!

Michelin pilot super sports have a 300 tread rating and the continental tires they were speaking have a 340 rating I believe. Either one will last you a good bit. I had mpss and loved them. Traction was pretty good even in temps below 50.
