Tire Size Question

Hey Guys/Gals

I have the 2015 GT (non pp) with the OEM 20 inch rims. While the original tires are 265/35r20, I was curious if I could safely move up to 275/35r20.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Adam

They'd be taller. Throw off your speedometer, I would think.

Yeah, figured they'd throw off the speedo, I was more concerned with the width of the tire fitting on the rim.

That's only 10mm wider. I think you'll be fine.

The difference in diameter between those 2 tire sizes is only about 1%. That's well within the recommended difference of +/-2 to 3%.
Would make a difference of approx. 0.6 mph at a speed of 60 mph.

The width will not be a problem. I have the same rims and my tire shop mistakenly put 305/30/20' s which fit under the rear quarter panel just fine. Of course the distance of tire sticking out from the rim looked ridiculous.

Pressure on the tire = Maximum design pressure.
Pressure on the door is the recommended pressure to maintain when cold.
Some people like to run slightly higher for one reason or another.
Higher pressures tend to cause car to ride harder and tend to wear center of tire more. While lower pressures tends to soften the ride, decreases gas mileage and tends to wear outer edges of tires more.
Tire pressure sensors are based on the recommended pressure and typically are set at or near 25% below for alarming purposes.
