Update:

2017 Performance Package price was raised from $2,495 to $2,995!! (+$500)

Also, for people on the fence, most of the manual California Specials that I have seen have 3.55 gears optioned on them. Which I think is actually a better all around, daily driver, highway, compromise gear than the 3.73 gears anyway.

There was a ruby red metallic, with black painted roof, GT california special at my local dealership... that looked beautiful, until I saw it was automatic.

I commute in my '16 GT with performance package (PP), and get close to 25 mpg. The Brembos alone are worth every penny of the PP in my opinion. also, not to be rude, but I don't care for the California Special's wheels; at least, not the wheels on the 15-16. Whichever, you will be very pleased.

I'm going to have to argue for the performance pack based off the brakes alone. Besides appearance is easy to customize on a mustang unless you are planning to stay 100% stock.

I'd like the spoiler from the Cali package on my PP car.
Or add the Brembos to a Cali Special car.

It's ashamed you can't get the Brembo upgrade as a stand alone package.
Or do a little bit more customization.

I just picked up a 16 GT Premium with the Performance Package in Shadow Black today. I didn't drive the CS, but did look at one. I chose PP just to get the extra performance. For me, it's performance over looks off the lot. It depends on what you want off the lot. I specifically wanted the 3.73 gearing. I can add the cosmetics later if I so choose to.

Good news is either way you go you have a great performing and good looking car with either package. I just preferred the performance upgrades a little more than the cosmetics.

It's a good "problem" to have

Yeah it is but the spoiler aftermarket is probably $700 with paint and install whereas the brakes are a couple thousand I think. I think ford should let you stack the Cali special and pp package and just take the money haha.

I like how they finally let you get the convertible and PP.

I had to add the Brembos to my 14 Convertible. Though this time around I went coupe, b/c most tracks require a roll bar for convertibles. (road courses)
