New to the 5.0 crowd

Hi everyone. Just upgraded from the 2014 V6 to a 2016 GT.

Mine is a base model. It has the performance package and reverse sensors. Very nice combo to have (backup camera and sensors).

The color is Guard Metallic. Probably won't do much to it besides mufflers and an oil catch can for now. But once the warranty runs out, it will be a mod fest.

Definitely a huge change between the two cars. Even though my 3.7 had full bolt-ons, this v8 is way more powerful.

Here are pics of my old ride and new ride.

What's that saying? If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Thanks man. Me too. With my condition you are supposed to get a checkup every 1-2 years. It has been 6 years since I went to the dr. last. Mainly due to insurance purposes.

Also, if anyone has any cool info on the newer 5.0s, let me know! I am still learning stuff about this car.

Not sure if it is normal and to be expected. But when pressing down the clutch pedal on this new 5.0, it goes with minimal pushback/resistance. The 2011 V6 I had, it had some pressure to it so it seemed easier to work.

Will this be the same for the 5.0 as it gets worn in or will this be the norm?

There is a clutch assist spring in there. Some people have taken them out completely or have opted for a different spring (Steeda makes one) to change the clutch feel.

Thanks man! Will look into it. I want a stiffer feel. If that makes any sense. lol

And now all the GT guys are revving and waving at me when they go by.

I'm just surprised no one has told you that you should've bought a 14 GT or a new Camaro yet. It's a new record lol. What's the line about haters and what they are going to do ?

Welcome to the club. You could also look into upgrading the plastic, hydraulic clutch line. I am assuming that the 16 still has the plastic line, as do the 13's and 14's. Does anyone know for sure if Ford might have already upgraded the line on the new ones?

I found a pop out compartment on the left side if the steering wheel near the trunk release button. Would this be it?

You can hide your w**d in there? Lol jk

What other cheap mods are GT owners doing for power that does not void warranty? Are pulleys still a power mod on the S550?

The mystery bin on the left of the dash is the sunglasses holder. Love the guard metallic, by the way. I chose the blue but guard would have been my next choice. Both the impact blue and guard are disappearing after the '16 model, so they will be somewhat rare birds.

Not doing any performance mods, but I am swapping out the steering wheel for the flat-bottomed GT550 one. You can find them on eBay for about $320.

Yea I won't be doing performance mods for awhile either. Mainly just looks and a set of mufflers. That is why I made sure to get the GT Performance Pack. So it is all equipped from Ford and everything is warrantied with the car.

Never have. I did drag race a few times when I had the 2014 3.7.

Nope. Just babying it and staring at it/sitting in it for awkward amounts of time.

Well, I'm sure after babying it and staring at it, you will start track racing it. After all, you got the performance pack. Isn't the performance pack made for track racing? Upgraded suspension and brakes?

I believe so. If anything, I may drag race it once or twice in 2-3 years. Performance Parts for the newer GTs are more expensive then the V6.

For instance, Shorty Headers for the V8 are around $650 new (BBK Ceramic shorties)

For the V6, you can snag a pair for $400 or so.

This applies to other stuff as well. So it will take a little more saving to mod this beast. Which will then be more time before I drag race it.

I hear you in that man. V8 mods are always more. Just out of my own curiosity what made you buy a track edition 5.0 when you don't auto track race? Just wondering and mean no disrespect.
