HP gains with CAI and tune?

I'm wondering how much horsepower gain people have seen with a racer cold air intake like the C&L racer CAI with a tune.

A tune will get you between 15-25 horsepower. An aftermarket CAI will get you 0. In fact the aftermarket CAI will be worst than the stock one with iat's being much higher.

Just remember the minute you flash a tune you can kiss your drivetrain warranty good bye.

+1 although some dealers will not automatically void wtty. However, they will not put that in writing. fwiw I would not tune till after my 5/60 wtty is over but others happily will.

Despite what the MFGs keep claiming about the great power benefits of a CAI it comes down to none being able to actually repeat their power gains on your car. Like the other responders say, 0 HP gain. The Tune though is something else entirely. It will likely wake your car up and when used with certain CAIs can give a little more power than a Tune without. Bottom line CAI by itself gives no additional power. Tune can make power and possibly more with the right CAI. @ 15-25.

How can iats be higher when many of them use the same airbox? I have a Steeda CAI getting the exact same air as the stock intake system.

How are you using the Steeda CAI and the stock airbox in the same car???

I suppose you could use the airtube from a CAI with the stock Airbox. but that is not the same as using a CAI.

Well actually, I meant to say the the stock bottom part of the intake box is used with the Steeda CAI, and it draws the air from the same places as stock.

Okay

that I can understand. But if the Filter is not enclosed fully then you can get air from the engine compartment and that means higher IATs than a stock system which only draws from the grille opening.

That's why I love my Steeda, like some others, that are enclosed to be away from the engine heat. Besides using the same inlet below the bottom of the stock airbox, it is also open on top where the outside air comes in from the vent in the hood only. 2 entry points for the outside air.

Steeda is only one of the intakes that actually requires a tune, so I'd assume it lets more air in. If a CAI doesn't require a tune, it's safe to assume it does nothing for performance.

I never said it didn't, I commented on the product I own, and why I chose it over products that don't require a tune.

Wasn't pointing at you, just mentioned JLT requires a tune, you did say Steeda was the only one that did.
