GT350 Intake

Hello everyone,

This might seem like a noob question. But does anyone know if the GT350 intake will fit the 2015/2016 5.0? I know someone at a dealership that is trying to get rid of one for fairly cheap. It looks almost similar to the Roush cold air intake. He doesn't believe a retune would be needed.

But I figured it would be best to ask my awesome 5.0 community. As I am also not sure if there is a big size difference or anything with the throttle body between the two or any other differences just by looking at the pictures.

Here is an example pic of what I am referring to vs. the 5.0 intake.

Not without some work. And you won't get any performance benefit from it.

But you do get to tell people it has a gt350 intake on it and that not only adds street cred but several shlongs draped over the fender to check it out at the autozone when you pop the hood. Seems worth it to me.

Not looking for performance really. Just wanting to make under the hood more appealing and that awesome intake sound when revving.

That is why I am not looking to spend $350 on an intake. I can pick up one of these for half that.

I am assuming some fabrication might be needed?

Do it. Those are very hard to get and look 200x better than stock. I wouldn't imagine it being too hard to get it to fit if it isn't a direct swap.

Yea I am surprised the owners are so quick to take them off. I cannot imagine anything being THAT much better on those cars but what do I know.

The 2 things I am curious about, and mainly cuz the pics I find are crappy is - will this fit around the throttle body of the 5.0 and lastly, there is a plug on the side of the intake tube facing you on the 5.0. I am not seeing this on the GT350 intake. Unless it is there and my eyes are THAT bad.

Update - Found out the GT350 Throttle Body is 87mm and the GT one is 80mm. I doubt that would make a difference considering on my 3.7, the 68mm stock and 73mm BBK throttle body would work with the stock intake or anything else.

They are cheap to get and the install is time consuming but doable by a decent mechanic. I have seen the write ups elsewhere that show them making 430 RWHP on cars with long tubes and Tunes. I think they are worth 25 to 30 hp. But it is a torque curve mover. The torque curve move up the rev scale. Not so hot for a AT car without a race converter. IMHO

Are you talking about the intake manifold? I seen many threads about that elsewhere. But this is for the "cold air intake" on the GT350.

Just as long as you know that your statement proves nothing about this CAI adding any HP. Lol. LTs and tune made that power.

Yea the guy who was selling it said it would fit everything fine. But I feel a little skeptical. Not sure if it has all the fittings/connections that would normally go to the GT intake.

Was hard to find good pictures and such. Even most GT350 videos don't look at the "cold air intake" on these cars.

But after further looking, i know the GT intake tube has 3 connectors. The GT350 intake tube has 2 connectors. So something won't get connected but I am not sure what that is.

I am not going to try and fabricate this on the GT. And I am also not 100% if a retune will be truly needed.

It would be cool if someone eventually tries this but this is my stopping point.

Going to look into getting maybe a covered Airaid intake or something down the road.

It's a gt350 but they test a stock gt intake then a gt350 then a cobra jet so I am sure they are all compatible just probably the hood won't close now I want a cobra jet intake on mines 😀

No that one is for the GT350 Intake manifold and Cobra Jet Manifold. This is/was about the "cold air intake" on the GT350. The filter pod, filter, and air tube.

Further digging (idk why), shows this intake would require a retune on the GT. Possibly the MAF diameter being different. Which I guess I could expect from the GT350 using a tad bigger throttle body and slightly bigger engine. I believe the Intake Manifold also has better airflow so it would demand a bit more air coming in.

This intake is supposed to be comparable to the Roush (without insert) and JLT. So this would also lead me to think it requires a retune.

My guess is the GT 350 does not have a sound tube which would be one of the three tubes found 15/ 16 GT

That might be it because now that you mention it, I don't see a sound tube running from it. It looks like the hose/connection on the passenger side of the intake tube, was relocated to next to the driver side crank case hose/connection.

So maybe all that is needed is deleting the sound tube and a tune.

Yeah I mean it seems legit. Never has anyone lied about power gains when they are selling something.

All joking aside, this CAI is not good looking. If you are going to waste money might as well do it right and get an aftermarket one with some shine on it. Although you could bedazzle the GT350 one.

Just throwing ideas out there for the community. The yellow filter isn't very pleasing to the eye. Maybe it was so Ford techs could "see" how dirty they were. It would kinda like the Roush one if you swapped the filter out with a different color. I think....

I believe so man! The stock intakes always have some sort of resonator or something on them to lower the sound.

I still remember the one on the stock 3.7 intake. 😱
