What to look foward to owning a 2016 gt

Hi guys ive been a foxbody guy for a long time, owned four 5.0s and ive been thinking of getting a 2016 5.0. Manual.

What are the pros and cons of owning one. I really cant wait to get it but decided to pass by the 2015 section for some clarity on these models. As a guy who has driven all the classics up until the 2010-2016 i feel that they are totaly different monsters.

Ive seen all the reviews on youtube and still feel like theyre leaving out some details about daily drivability, handling, etc...

Thanks guys! Looking foward to being a new 2016 owner!!

We may need more information on the equipment you are going to get on your new GT:
Performance package?..............and if not, then what gears? Manual or A6? Convertible or hardtop?

I've owned many Mustangs over the years, and our 2015 GT convertible with 3.55's blows them all out of the water.
As it is a convertible, I like the stock exhaust -- any louder with the top down would not be acceptable to me or my wife. The IRS, even without the PP calms the handling -- especially when hitting a bump in a corner.
I am getting 22-23 mpg in town and 25-27 mpg cruising at highway speeds, which I am VERY happy with. You can, of course get much lower than that if that is your desire.
The interior quality is so much improved over my previous 97 Cobra that it is actually hard to describe. My son now owns my 97, and I get to drive it once in a while. It is like the steering wheel is two inches from your belly button in the 97 -- I hate driving it compared to the room in the driver's seat of our 2015.

Besides the cost of the half shafts, I don't see any real cons.

The appearance is very subjective, I like it but not enough to have gotten one over my 14 GT.

There's many pros, the interior is much improved, along with the cup holders out of the way so you can shift comfortably. It's also nice to be able to have a touch screen nav as part of the Premium package, something that used to be like a 1.5k add on. Not to mention heated and cooled seats are also standard on the Premium.

Everyone comments on the upgraded handling, they set the Boss 302 as the standard for the PP GT. Needless to say they met their goal, even surpassed it by a little which is saying a lot.

I think you'll be happy, if your face doesn't look like this on the test drive though, look at other options.

Im looking for a v8 manual. With performance package depending on what the performance package brings. I want to install a vortech supercharger in it in the near future.

As you don't know what the various packages include, head on over to the FORD.COM website, and build your own Mustang. Each option package will specifically list what is included.
Some people say that the 3.73's are too deep for forced induction, and a better choice might be the lower ratios.....that has been discussed here before.

If you plan on F/I I would strongly consider an auto. Plus the 3.73's as mentioned will be to much gear.

My 2016 Mustang GT Premium Experience

I've had my new 2016 Mustang GT Premium since December 2015. It's automatic, 3.55 gears, 19 inch rims. LOVE it, handles fantastic, quick as a jack rabbit, comfortable for me and I'm 6 ft. 3 inches. Planning on changing out exhaust. Probably put on a cold air system as well and a tune. Stock out of the box, very happy and for a daily driver or on trips, love the automatic. Shifts faster than a manual and very positive in shifts especially in the "sport" mode. No cons so far. Gas mileage has been 21-22 in city and on a short trip on freeway 29-30. Dollar for dollar this is the best muscle car out there I think.

Wow man im starting to consider the auto trans lol. How fast do those paddle shifters shift? Do they have any delay? My brother has a 2013 mercedes e350 and its paddles shift instantaneously! Ive always driven manuals and would like to drag race the mustang also too

Pro's : It's a 5.0 with 435 hp. It's a Mustang! Makes a person super cool automatically because they own a Mustang. IRS! Good looking interior. Engine can handle a boat load of HP.

Cons: Was given the S550 body. Looks like euro sports car. Lost its muscle looking identity. Rear end only a mother could love.

If you are going to drag race your GT.....please do some research on the rear end gears and transmission to get. The 3.73's in the PP will be VERY traction limited with FI of any kind. Off hand, I would recommend the 3.23's, max. Even the 3.15's are good supercharger gears, according to what I've read about here.
And the A6 is the way to go for drag racing. Consistent shifts, consistent launches, consistent 60 foot times -- no danger of a missed shift....and the A6 is faster all day every day.
I would say that the paddle shifters (especially in Sport or Track modes) shift very quickly. MUCH more quickly than the A6 in my 2008 Corvette's did......but Mercedes or Porsche PDK quick? No.

I upgraded from a 2002 Gt with bolt ons, to a 2015 premium with performance package, and so far the only cons i've noticed is the 6 speed is a little more finicky for me. And it has a decent amount of wheel hop to it. But honestly, i'm enjoying this car A lot more than my 02GT. It's just an overall fun car to drive. And I'm not exaggerating when i say, i have people stop me on a daily basis to compliment me on it, or ask about it. With my other mustangs, it was only the real car enthusiast who appreciated it.

2015 PRO'S & CON'S

I had a 2007 GT and now own a 2015 GT premium w/performance pack. My 07 had a WHIPPLE SUPERCHARGER WITH 3.73 AND A EATON TRU TRACK. IT WOULD DO CONSISTENT LOW 12'S IN THE 1/4. The 2015 has a whipple 2.9 supercharger and also has 3.73's. I haven't had it to the track yet, but once I get rid of the wheel hop problem we will give it a try. I don't see why these people keep saying these cars run better with a higher ratio , especially with a 6 speed. I switched my 2007 from 3.31 to 3.73, what a difference. the only cons I can say there is with the 2015 is the wheel hop, and the cost of the half shafts, and the 2 piece driveshaft. I love this car!!! if you plan any road course completion I would say stay with the 6 speed.

Your 2007 had different transmission gearing than your 2015 and it's irreverent here.

My 2015 bone stock has run the same times as your 2007 so that's nothing to be proud of.

People are saying steeper gearing isn't needed with the 2015+ cars because of the aggressive gearing in the transmissions. Both the autos and the manuals. It's been proven time and time again since they've been out.

Check out this leaderboard for F/I cars. The top 14 are running 3.55's and 3.15's. Although to be fair the top 14 are also autos.

I got my car with the performance pack. It will never see a drag strip, but i like the fun factor the 3.73s give when romping around the city. Nothing too crazy.

One if my main selling points was the awesome 6 piston brembos with 15" front rotors. You get a bunch of other goodies but to each, their own. I like the wheel design as well that the performance pack cars had. I had similar wheels on my 2014 v6.

I was gonna eventually stagger the ones on my v6 anyway, so getting them staggered now was just an added bonus.

Question though - do all base model 2015/2016 GTs have that chameleon/reptile looking dash design? (Bad description, i know)

I know the base v6s have some fake carbon fiber looking dash that is textured. And all models that are premium have a brushed aluminum. So i wasn't sure.

I really like it. I won't be changing my dash panels out

The dash finish is called "Turned". In years past the high dollar machine shops would add this finish to selected parts as decorative finishing. Custom Rifle builders also did this to the bolts of high dollar rifles. In the past it was done by hand and expensive. I guess you younger guys having never seen it before can't appreciate the sentiment it has for us oldsters.
