I'm a Flowmaster guy myself. I had them on me 2011 GT
, and loved them. The Flowmaster cat-back on the S550 requires cutting, and that was why I went this route. The volume is definitely louder than stock, but it's quieter than I was expecting; I'm happy.
One's idea of the best tone and level of volume is subjective. I was a jet engine mechanic for over 20 years, so I guess you could say I'm partly deaf and simply used to loud. As for drone, I don't have any of what I refer to as drone. To me drone is a really low resonating tone that is annoying. I don't have that at all. I do hear the exhaust, and yes it's deep when driving under a slight load at roughly 1,700 RPM's, but it's not a resonating drone.
To be honest, I was a little nervous, I felt that the car sounded great from the factory. For me, I'm happy with the Gibson. It was between that and the Magnaflow for me, I didn't care for the Borla.
