Swapped out the 2016 for a 2017

2017 is on the right, the 2016 has 2300 miles and the new one is a clone except the wheels and hood blinkersClick image for larger version

From just a few days with the 2017 the leather appears to have a better quality, paint looks bit darker, and the body panels are much improved and very little, if any, orange peel in the front fenders. One other thing I have noticed is the exhaust is much louder and way more fun to drive than my 2016. Oh wait! Maybe that's the roush axelbacks I threw on at 50 miles 🤓

Reason for trade: I purchased the 2016 in January and made two mistakes before acceptance 1) the exterior was dirty when I test drove it so I could not get a good look at the body 2) I picked it up at dusk and it looked good but not the next morning. I am fairly particular about a straight body and within the next few days after purchase noticed a lot of issues with the body. Not misaligned panels but bends at the corners of the passenger door, the edges of the trunk and hood. I was not sure if it came from factory like that so I brought it to an independent body shop and they said it was factory paint over what looked like poor workmanship at ford. Long story short, I brought it to the dealer and the GM agreed and we tried to get ford to replace it but all they would agree to do was fix it. Poor car spent 8 days under the knife and not fixed properly so it was either proceed to lemon or give me a new car. Dealer gave me a choice of any 2016 locally and there were not any that had my options and/or color, so he ordered me a new 2017 that was identical to the 2016 and threw in the nickel plated rims as part of the deal. When all was done, I ended up paying for taxes and reg fees and that was it plus the rates are lower and saved $70 a year on insurance. For those that say "dealers love these types" I originally paid $5k under MSRP for the 2016 and now have a very straight 2017 for the same money. Great team at Sarasota Ford and happy customer here.

Should've told your story in the first post haha I was over here thinking that you just took it and traded it in because you wanted a model year newer.

My bad, looks like others were probably thinking the same thing. I did post the issues along the way on 6g where ford service lives.

Sarasota Ford as in Florida? They are great I got my 2011 from them for way under sticker. My 2013 right up the road from Matthew Curry... saved a little more but not as easy to deal with as Sarasota was

Sarasota ford definitely worked hard to make me a happy camper and it worked. I was not putting the pressure on the dealer, felt it was a ford a issue and they should have stepped up, but had enough of ford service bs and was about to trade the car in for a foreign import. Smart move by Sarasota ford to keep me in the game imo.

Can you take a close up photos of new wheels? I just want to make sure what the Luster nickel finish looks like. I thought it was more of a polished nickel look, but from what I've seen its really more like the silver sparkle paint, just a shade or 2 darker.

I've been back & forth on the wheels. My car is on order, but I don't think its locked in yet, so I might still change the wheels again!

Oh wow! Congrats! I too was saying to myself, why? What a great deal that worked out for you. Nice way to stay on top of it and the reward is a newer car. You rock dude and good luck with her!

My 2016 GT Premium has the blinkers on the heat extractors. That was not a change from 2016 to 2017...

So let me get this straight...
the 2015's did not have them.
the 2016's did have them, now...
the 2017's do not have them again?

Wondering why they removed them?
1. You could really only see the driver's side.
2. It was a distraction from driving.
3. Complete waste of money.

Brochures made them look almost like the polished aluminum wheels (which I like). But when I saw the Escape Titanium's which have also have a "Luster Nickel" finish I wasn't so crazy about the finish. At least it wasn't worth a $200 upgrade charge.

Congrats on the car! Who cares why you got it. If that's what you wanted, good for you. Interesting story though. Sounds like a customer oriented dealership.

I think.the new one is awesome! Good job for not sitting back and just excepting your 16.

Wasn't a fan of the newer 15+ cars when they came out but tbh I'm really starting to love them!
Looks awesome!

The black wheels look great Imo, and really make the car look much better, and the imperfections on the body from what the op is describing with the 16 would have made my ocd flare up every time I saw her lol.

Well, I think I'm going to sell the wheels regardless as soon as I get the car, so might as well go with the $200 cheaper (and probably more popular) black option.

That said, ANYONE want to buy a BRAND NEW set of black staggered Performance Pack wheels with basically zero miles on them? PM me if you're interested!

If you are going for a track setup or unique look then aftermarket wheels and suspension is the way to go. I may go that route myself, good for now.

Track - yes, would like some weight reduction / better performance

Looks - yes, I like a more polished look. For my past 2 sports cars I've bought new wheels with polished faces & grey interiors. You get a little best of both worlds to me. Polished face for appearance, but the painted interior hides the brake dust better.

I thought the Nickel was a polished look like the old polished aluminum wheels, like these:

The Luster Nickel looks like its more of a painted finish, better than Silver Sparkle, but not quite what I'm looking for.
