Low fuel warning

Hello, I'm new to the forum and I drive a 2016 GT. I wanted to know if there is a way to change the low fuel warning. Currently my warning lights up at 50 miles and it's getting kind of annoying. Maybe 25 would be better.

Well just wait...

It will keep reminding you at increasingly lower levels.

As for your idea of changing the mile estimate that the warning comes on at. It might be a programmed value in the code that tells the car what it is and sets all its parameters.

There is a massive effort underway to to map the coding in use on the S550 platform at the M6G forum. So far they have identified many of the bits used to set things like DRLs on or off, Police mode, what motif is used on the display screen Mustang or GT350 to name a few. Those guys are some really keen hackers using some interesting hardware and SW to catalog the codes. I have not heard of them finding a way to change the mile setting that warning is triggered at. I also have not seen any reference to changing it in the user manual.

What Dog said....it'll keep reminding you. I just fill mine up when it comes on. fyi mine comes on when I need 12 gals out of 16. One of the reasons it comes on early is it has a split tank which they like to keep 1-2 gals per side.

+1 on Skins ? Police mode???? I know what race car mode is.

Strange... Mine just lit up this morning dead on 20 miles to empty. Is there that much variation car to car?

That warning is junk. My 15 GT W/PP said 0 miles to empty and I went 5 more miles then it only took 15.5 gallons. It must work like the oil life gauge, in that It calculates different things like current MPG and if you have 87,91 or 93 octane?

Yes it's fast, no you can't drive it.

I read it bases it on how you have driven the last 500 miles.

Would you have been happier if it was accurate and when it said 0 miles to empty the car had run out of gas?

It reads empty at about 14.5 that way you fill up before you're empty. A lot of modern cars do it so people don't try pushing it to 0 and end up on the side of the road without gas. The MPG reading also goes off a 16 gallon tank, so you're actually getting about 2-3 MPG than the cars tells you that you are.

@showsomeskin the Police mode is what they call the code change to keep the car interior lighting from coming on when you open the doors.
