Not a bad looking car!
And that was very nice that they had Mr. McQueen's granddaughter do the reveal. Also the clip at the end was a nice homage to the movie. I was particularly pleased to see that the 2018 model does not wheel hop in reverse like the 1968 movie car.
I always expect them to do a little more to the Bullitt, but in reality Ford was just trying to pay homage to the car in the movie, which was nothing more than a off the lot GT 390 with a tune and few modifications to the suspension. And don't forget the Torque Thrusts!

I still wish they would have dropped a 390 in it...

Enough of the Bullitt!
Bring on the Mach 1

Too bad that the Bullitt has 475 HP and the GT ”only” 460......would have been nice to have the GT bumped up that far.

I’ll get up some information on standard equipment and options.
From what I’ve read there’s 3 option packages and I believe active exhaust is standard.

As a special-edition model due out this summer – the all-new Mustang Bullitt is equipped with a manual transmission, and the gear shifter features a white cue ball shift knob as a nod to the original. The vehicle packages all Mustang GT Premium and Performance Package content into a vehicle that maintains the original Bullitt’s understated persona.

An active valve performance exhaust system is standard with new Black NitroPlate exhaust tips, and retuned to give the car a signature burble, as well as new Open Air Induction System and Shelby GT350 intake manifold with 87mm throttle bodies and powertrain control module calibration for optimal performance.

Other standard equipment includes a heated leather steering wheel and a 12-inch all-digital LCD instrument cluster, identical in function to the cluster introduced on 2018 Mustang, but with a unique Bullitt welcome screen that starts in green with an image of the car rather than the pony.

“This new Bullitt is, as Steve McQueen was, effortlessly cool,” said Darrell Behmer, Mustang chief designer. “As a designer, it’s my favorite Mustang – devoid of stripes, spoilers and badges. It doesn’t need to scream about anything – it’s just cool.”

Exterior paint choices are limited to Shadow Black and the classic Dark Highland Green – as worn in the movie. Other features that pay tribute to the car McQueen drove are subtle chrome accents around the grille and front windows, classic torque thrust 19-inch aluminum wheels, red painted Brembo brakes, and a unique black front grille. Inside and out, the vehicle uses minimal badging; only the circular faux gas cap Bullitt logo on the rear center is visible on the exterior.

The leather-trimmed interior features unique green accent stitching on the dashboard, door panels, center console and seats.

Aside from the two exterior paint choices, Mustang Bullitt buyers are limited to three factory-installed options:
1. Bullitt Electronics Package includes navigation, driver memory seats and mirrors, upgraded sound system and Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert that can alert customers of vehicles detected in difficult-to-see places
2. MagneRide semi-active suspension system optimizes driving performance.
3. RECARO black leather-trimmed seats.

I’ll bet if the owners of Guard Green Mustangs (oh, I don’t know — Like me?) put the Bullitt wheels on our cars, they would be darn close to looking like the real thing.....but they would not SOUND like the real 2018 Bullitt would they......

It's interesting that both of the original Bullitt movie cars resurfaced recently.
I suppose that there is no better time to market the cars than the 50 year anniversary of the movie.

The price point will be tough to bite for most. Rumor is $55k sticker, and you can guarantee there will be mark ups at dealerships. I'd rather get a GT350.

It will be a good car to buy after it has been stored in someone's garage for a decade.

So, I’m not the only one that thinks that.

Someone mentioned the new Mach 1. You don't want what Ford has planned. Its a battery operated SUV crossover. Garbage in my opinion.

This. I dont care if it's the coolest damn car on the planet, it is NOT a Mach 1 and they shouldnt call it that. The Mach 1 is my absolute favorite mustang, i'm like legitimately upset about this.

Could it be possible that this is Ford's way of "easing" the Mustang community into accepting a more eco-friendly Mustang in the future? By using some popular Mustang model names on electric cars? Names that have been mysteriously absent for 14 years?
I guess that we should also be looking out for the new Cobra hybrid in the near future...

Dont get me wrong, i'm OK with a performance hybrid, i really am. Like if you can stick a small electric motor on the crankshaft and give it a nice torque bump, i'm all about it... but taking a class mustang performance icon and making it a damn SUV? Why?

Any estimates of what a ratty looking DHG1968 fastback GT 390 might bring if it was to go across the auction block at Barrett -Jackson this week?

They’re selling the Bullitt car? Or some barn find?

Hypothetically, if it sold this week.
I haven't heard if the car is actually for sale or not.

Just kind of curious because a GT40 that Steve McQueen owned holds the record for the most expensive American car ever sold at auction.
He technically never owned the movie car But it still has to be worth many tens of times the 6 grand that the current owner's father paid for it. At least...

Did he have the prototype GT40? I don’t remember seeing a GT40 for sale that was owned by Mr. McQueen.

Just watched the video of his GT40. That’s impressive. I’d give it a 1 to 3.5 million price for the Bullitt.

It was a GT40 that was used as a camera car to film the racing scenes in the 1971 movie LeMans.
It sold at Pebble Beach in 2012 for 11 million.

All of the vehicles that he touched seem to turn to gold. He had a good sized collection of stuff when he passed away.
I think that the last Steve McQueen movie car that sold was a early fifties Chevy from the movie Hunter. I believe that it sold for less than 100 grand.
Certainly not as desirable as the Bullitt car.
We'll find out someday I'm sure.

Out of my price range, but awesome none the less. Anybody catch the dark highland green LED's for the license plate? Another of the many nice little touches on the car.

I like how they matched the new grille with the original. No pony.
Not a big fan of the rear Bullitt gas cap, but I don't dislike it either.
I like "devoid of stripes, spoilers and badges".
It comes as ONLY a manual trans? That is awesome.

I wanna see what the Mach looks like. And what the price is gonna be on this thing? Like $60k? This time next year I'll have the $$$ to get a new Mustang and I am allowed to buy a US spec vehicle out here... There is a US Ford dealer in Germany that would be a great excuse to fly out there and then road trip back across Europe for a week...

But no way I'd spend what they are probably going to ask for this thing...

Maybe it will actually be cool, like the Porsche Panamera, and we will all unanimously fall in love with it.
