Top gear is famous for exaggerating things. I would have been surprised if they hadn't reported bad economy numbers.

Which means it's highway mpg rating has to be in 22-25mpg.

23 to be exact....and that's with the slow and steady economy driving they do to rate all they cars...as opposed to Clarkson or anyone else's driving habbits...which is why a lot of us wonder what ford will do to meet the new requirements that are slowly popping up. Which is why i'm all for Ford doing a 4 cylinder.

They are already advertising the 4 cyl Ecoboost in the Fusion as a High Powered Sports Car disguised as a Fusion.

Nothing wrong with more options for consumers who have different needs. Not every person on the planet wants a car with a V8.
Says the guy with headers and a loud *** car lol
But forreal, if I got a kid, or even my wife, I'd buy them that 4 cylinder for safety reasons.

What makes the 4 turbo safer?

That's all in good fun and would be cool to see another SVO, but if I can't have a v8 rumble in a Mustang, than I'm not buying a Mustang lol. Just my opinion of them though.

I mean yea they are still going to be quicker than your average car granted but still not on par with with your GT. I guess one can think of it as a peace of mind thing.

They should really just keep the v6's for now I think. They are only a couple years old. And get good mpg's. it'll still be a great car so I'm not worried.

Yeah that would be another one. So I take it this doesn't happen very often and ford only did this once In 100 years with the mustang? So it would be very interesting to see if they do this again.

I drove from Chicago to Tulsa & back in our 2013 GT500 vert. My average mpg on the highway was 26. Typically, during daily driving, I get around 18.

And 18mpg is better than I get in any of my other vehicles:
1988 Mustang GT:14
2004 F150: 16
2004 Jeep TJ: 15

I already have 2 V8 Mustangs. I'm looking forward to a 4 cyl Stang again. My 79 ghia was a four banger & I loved it.

Just because it's a Mustang doesn't mean it has to be fast.

I think too many people are in the camp that ALL Mustangs need to be fast. Ford sold thousands of 4-bangers from 1974 to 1993. Those were all Mustangs too.

The 79-86 foxes had 4,6 & 8 cylinder options. .

They actually had 2 4 cylinders, 3 v6, and 2 v8 options. Talk about a wide offering.

I love the v8 and wouldn't trade for anything but if I had the money I would for sure buy a 4 turbo stang. I bet that thing would be so much to drive on track or on a back road somewhere. This is why I buy the legend just for the engine options, unique styling, and it's a one of a kind!

My 1988 Mustang LX was a 4 banger. If I am not mistaken, it had 88 hp.
