2015 V6...stupid question

If the engine on the new 2015 V6 is the same 3.7 than the 2014...why 300hp instead of 305hp ???

It's the same engine and in the big picture 5 Hp doesn't mean much. Most likely it's a different tune but could also be from different intake/ exhaust.

You have to remember too the 15's are heaver so it you put the exhaust same engine/ drivetrian its going to get less MPG's. At the end of the day it doesn't even matter. It's like GM guys who argue about the LS1's cubic inches. Technically its a 346 and some change and not a 'True' 350. But if someone asks you just say 5.7 or 350 as nobody really cares about 3.xx cubic inches. Just like nobody that likes the V6 better then the EB is going to not buy the V6 because it makes 300 instead of 305. just not realistic. And likely even if the S197's would have been a longer production run Ford would have made small changes through the production run even if they kept the same actual engine.

They are pushing the Ecoboost and are making the V6 more bare bones for the comparison. They also retuned the engine slightly for better gas mileage and more power at low rpms. However, the listed gas mileage is not showing an increase for several possible reasons. Some of it may have to do with the legal headaches from the hybrids.

He asked about HP...not MPG...lol.

My guess is nothing. Maybe they did make a change, but I doubt they would waste their time when they can just say 300. People get mad when a "300 HP " car only has 250. No one gets made when a "300 HP" car has 350. Same with MPG.

Different intake manifold. Ford has said this a few times, you will not notice 5 hp anyways

I'm pretty sure that the shorter standard final drive ratio (3.15 vs 2.73) has more to do with the fuel economy hit than the (31lb MT / 12lb AT) weight gain.
