Seeing a lot of Ecoboost on the used car listings

Hello

So I am exploring a new 2016 Mustang and it seems to me that there are a lot of Ecoboost Mustangs listed on the used car pages.

Were the Ecoboost cars used as rentals? I don't think so.

I am not trying to start a crap storm.

Are there issues? Are owners not happy with them?

Yes, you will see them as rentals all the time - well, at least here in Florida you do.

I was under the impression that the V6 was the rental fleet variant.

I have only seen a few Ecos driving around, lots more Coyotes and only a single V6 seen in person on the roads (that I could tell from the rear anyway).

I have not heard of any issues with them tho. Other than people hate the way they sound but that's something that you know going in. I dunno, you can make the V6 sound great and obviously the Coyote sounds good but... not the I4...

Don't forget to that ford sells more base mustangs then GTs and are pushing the Eco boost by not offering upgrades on the v6 models. So by law of numbers you are going to see more for sale. Don't forget some people don't care about new car depreciation and get a new car ever 1-2 years.

I see more Ecos than V6s and GTs combined around here. Seems like that's all I see.

You can rent both the V6 and the Eco.

I see way more Coyotes than any other 2015+ model around where I live. There are a few Ecos, the lone V6 that I've seen and the rest are 5.0s. Probably because a well equipped Eco is more expensive than a base 5.0 and the V6 can't be optioned. Not to mention the base model 2015+ gets a TON of stuff in it already that you used to have to pay extra for in the 11-14 years.

I think that Ford over produced the EB Mustang, and was more or less forced to put some of them into fleet service.
When the 2015 first came out, it seemed like 80% of the Mustangs on the lot were EB's......way too optimistic, I believe.

I guess its different being in a military base. If you aren't past your first divorce by the time you can comfortably afford a Coyote as enlisted you are doing it wrong lol. And then you can just get it without having to clear it with anyone.

Echo Boost and V-6s

Even though people want a V8 it's too expensive. The Echo Boost's exhaust has a system that gives the driver the feeling of a louder note by putting it through the speakers (true fact). The V6 is the best deal for most because it's the cheapest, looks good, has over 300hps and with a nice after market exhaust system will produce an acceptable sound. Plus is good on gas, approx. 28MPGs. Take you pick.

The problem with the Eco is the sound of the engine. Ford has never been able to make the 2.3 which was used in the SVO, Merkur XR4TI, Turbo Coupe have a performance sound. It just makes noise which doesn't sound like performance or sing like the Mustang V/8 or the V/6 does. You can get a exhaust that will help from outside of the car but inside it sounds like a noisy 4Cyl.

There are more used S550's in my area than 2011+ S197s. The people I know that have them just simply don't like the new cars.

Most of them are going to a 6th gen Camaro or going with a 4 door.

More used fours because the dealers use them for loaner cars and sell them in three or four months as used. They like to keep the mileage low.

This doesn't seem to bother the Honda crowd. I have never heard a decent sounding Honda.

Very valid point. But I will say. The engine does respond great to mods such as a performance tune. The rwhp and rwtq are very nice and higher than the 3.7 engines with the same tune.

Bring on Eco boost sixer for the stang

They are coming out with a 2.7l V6 TT for the Fusion, so would not be a surprise.

One of my good friends has had his ecoboost since last February. He hasnt had any major issues with his and it seems pretty well engineered. Turned him into a huge Mustang fanatic. Another friend's wife just got her first Mustang(ecoboost) this weekend. Fully loaded white ecoboost--beautiful.

It's kinda weird hearing such a quiet Mustang(not to mention the turbo) but it still will move and handles nice. Despite the muffled tone I'd probably still choose the ecoboost over the V6. When its possible though...nothing is going to growl like the Coyote

We have 2 Eco boosts in the garage. 2014 Ford Escape 2.0L and a 2015 Ford Edge with the 2.0L. No problems with either. Both will get near 30MPG on a trip and have great torque coming off stop lights.

Did I mention that the 2.7L TT Fusion is also AWD? They are calling it Fusion Sport.

In 2014 Ford sold 73,000 mustangs, in 2015 they sold 113,000 mustangs, up 55%

Initially the new Mustang sales broke down as, 50% GT's, 25% Ecoboost's and 25% V6's, not sure if that breakdown has held over the pursuing months.

The dealer I bought my new Mustang from had more Roush models than anything else on the lot.

You probably see more used Ecoboosts because Ford just sells more of them. It's a good car, and you can get in a Premium Ecoboost for around the same price as a base GT. Most people don't care as much about raw speed as they do comfort and options. Around here there are a solid amount of Mustangs on the road, but most of them are non-GT's. Seems that way, at any rate.

A base Ecoboost is $7k less than the base GT and they come identically equipped. Most people are more attracted to the features than the power so for the same money you get a car with more features and better mileage.

In my area the EB and the v6 out number GTs at least 3:1. And, almost all the verts are v6.
