Mirror Tap to Hardwire Radar Detector

Hi,

I'm trying to hardwire my radar detector into the rearview mirror molex connector of my 2015 Mustang. Does anyone know the color codes for the wires? I need to find the ground wire and the power wire. My volt meter probes are too large to get readings. Thanks.

Steve

I don't, and you probably don't need to either. Can you stab paper clips or bits of stripped copper wire into the back of the mirror connector? If so, you can then touch your multimeter's probes to those to find power and ground.

Thanks Tym_v6,

Good idea. Connector holes too small for paper clips, but pins/needles might work. I'll give it a try.

What about the pins of the mirror tap wire? You might be able to use those if there's enough exposed metal.

Thanks! Good idea. Connector holes too small for paper clips to work, but thin wire or needles should work. I'll give it a try.

Usually the vendor that sells the mirror tap has the info on their website, or give them a call.
