Axleback Low-end power & MPG

I know this question might sound silly...

Will adding an aftermarket exhaust (axle-back only, everything else stock) reduces car's low-end torque/power (decrease acceleration speed), and decreases fuel efficiency (drop MPG)? (5.0 GT)

Thanks a lot for answering!

You won't notice any differences. Mpg might go down just due to you being a little heavier footed.

i heard that after changing an axle back exhaust the back-pressure is smaller and low-end power will be reduced accordingly. Thus acceleration will be slower too..

This must be someone's misconception/interpretation based on the fact that torque is lost (at the low end) on oversized exhaust systems due to loss of back pressure.

It'll sound better but that will be the only difference.

BBk states with their X pipe and Varitune mufflers there is a substantive gain in HP and torque. I'm just saying, I don't know it this is true or not.
