I recently bought a pair of LED bulbs from Diode Dynamics for the license plate on my 2013 GT, among some other LEDs for around the car. A week of two after having them on the car they both burned out completely. I thought it might be a fuse issue, so I checked the related fuse and it looked fine but I replaced it anyway just to be sure. The bulbs would still not come on after replacing the fuse. I contacted Diode Dynamics and asked for replacements, and their great customer service sent me two new ones right away. After having the new ones on the car for about two weeks now the bulbs are burned out again.
While I was waiting for the second pair to come in I put the stock bulbs back in and they were absolutely solid, which makes me think it's not a fuse or wire problem. Is it possible that Diode Dynamics is making low quality license plate bulbs? Before this instance, I've always had nothing but good things to say about their products and their service, but I'm not sure about these bulbs. The dome lights and trunk light I bought at the same time as the first set of license plate lights are really good quality.
All the other threads I looked at regarding failing LEDs were based on cheap "eBay" style bulbs, so I definitely didn't expect this to happen with the Diode Dynamics bulbs. I'm not an electrical guru, but I do have a multimeter. Is there any way I can test to see if it's the car that's causing the problems or if it's the bulbs? Is it possible that I'm doing something wrong when I'm installing them?
