SCT tuner help

I just picked up An SCT tuner, and was under the impression that it is married to a car that's long gone. I have never used one before, so I have no idea if it is currently holding someone's stock tune or not. It says married, 5 unlocks left, and tune info only shows one 93 Oct. Performance tune on it. In the menu there is an option to revert to stock, but idk what this menu would look like if it was married to my own car or whatever. I already figured I would have to pay to have it unlocked again and then buy a tune. Any helpful info or links about this would be appreciated.

You are going to have to send it back to SCT to have it unmarried. Also, that is an X3 which hasn't been sold by SCT for a few years and it may not support newer cars. I would check with SCT before paying to have it unmarried.

How much is it to get it unmarried and how long does it take to get the programmer back?

Thanks.

It costs $150 to unmarry it last I heard. I hope that you didn't pay too much for it, it isn't the "unlocks" you have to consider but the married/unmarried status that is most important to check first.

After it is unmarried though you still have to get your own tunes for your car. The tune is written for the car computer code so unless you have the matching code and options his tune won't work on your car.

Paid 50 for it. Planned on getting a custom tune from a local shop. Basically looking at 200 for an unlocked tuner in the end, then whatever cost for a custom tune. Figured either way I'd save a few bucks and do it at my own pace. But almost paid 150 for the tuner when I thought it was unmarried.
