Oil burn 2012 GT

My 2012 GT has 49000 miles. I bought it in Jan 2016 with 38000 miles from the original owner with the original tires which had even wear all around. The car did not appear to be abused. I changed the oil after a few thousand miles with a conventional Mobil high mileage which the lube shop said was recommended by Ford I now know the min is a synthetic blend. The car went through About 5 additional qts over 4000 miles. I changed the oil myself at 46000 miles with Mobil 1 full syn 15000 mile oil and it seemed to be better but I just added the last of the two 5 qt jugs over 3000 miles. This seems like excessive oil burn and I was planning to do another change in 2000 miles. Is there a better oil to use or is this normal?

I am going to start keeping records of exact mileage and oil added from now on.

That is way too much oil consumption. Any signs of leakage? Cracked pan, leaky drain plug, anything?

My 2013 V6 has about 68k miles and it goes through maybe half a quart between oil changes (I'll bet a bunch of the "consumption" is blowby through the PCV system).

I have catch cans which accumulate minimal oil like a few table spoons at most. It has no leaks what so ever

Has your car had a compression test?
