I've gotten conflicting advice about whether or not my 2007 Shelby GT with stock 4.6L 3-valve engine was originally built with the spark plugs that are prone to breakage when removed. What's the correct answer? If the problematic plugs are installed, I'll take it to the dealer as I did my 2007 Expedition and cough up the $300 they charged to replace its plugs.
If they've never been changed they are likely the sucky ones. You can buy a tool to get them out yourself but it's still a *****. I'd just take it to Ford and have them do it honestly... sucks but you'll be in and out and no danger of the car being down for days while you wait for the right tool to get a broke plug out.
Prior to having these plugs installed my mustang would hesitate/surge from 4.5-5.5k rpm under heavy acceleration. I did an oil and filter change and put these spark plugs in and my mustang now runs perfectly
thanks to all for the replies. I'll have the dealer do the change.
