The official "[State] went for [candidate]" thread.

So here is the thread where we can post who got what state when they are called. I figured this would be easier than having multiple threads for each state.

I'm gonna go ahead and call Alabama for Bush.

Also, please DO NOT call states that are battleground/undecided/toss up states UNTIL they have been called by the news sources. Granted, some of those may change before it's all said and done, but please avoid doing it on your own.
Thanks.

MS will go Bush. Add 6 more I believe...trying to remember how many reps we have. And for anyone that doesn't know, your state's electoral votes is the number of reps plus your two senators. That's the number of electoral votes you get.

President, OK 10/31/2004
Bush (R) 64%
Kerry (D) 34%

I'm going to go ahead and call it for Bush in Oklahoma. These were the results of a statewide poll of likely voters taken on Sunday. Plus, we okies vote Republican in the presidential elections most of the time. So rack up another 7 electoral votes for 'W'.

That brings us to:
AL-9
IN-11
OK-7
MS-6
TX-34
_______
Bush = 67 Electoral Votes

I am pretty sure that Louisiana will be going bush...so, chalk up another 9 EC votes there.

Going by Electoral-Vote.com we can almost definitely chalk up all the "Strong ____" states to whoever they're polled to. The "Weak _____" states will probably go to whomever they're polled to, but not necessarily. The "Barely _____" states are within single digits, and are uncalleable since they fall within the margin of error (or really close).

Strong States:
Kerry - 146
Bush - 157

Strong + Weak:
Kerry - 225
Bush - 205

That leaves 108 votes tied up in "Barely" and "tied" states.
EASTERN TIME ZONE:
NH - 4, NJ - 15, PA - 21, VA - 13, OH - 20
CENTRAL TIME ZONE:
WI - 10, IA - 7
MOUNTAIN TIME ZONE:
CO - 9, NM - 5
HAWAII-ALEUTIAN TIME ZONE:
HI - 4

But now there's no need! I've broken down the information right up there! If you still want to visit the site, though, put a number 1-7 (or 8?) after the vote in the URL. They've got several mirrors up, and the regular one is slow as mole-asses. I used www.electoral-vote5.com .

Don't be so dramatic. The country will survive regardless of which one of these jackasses gets elected.

I'm being overdramatic on purpose pretty much...eventhough it will be sad if he wins.

Electoral-vote.com is an unreliable source, imo. He keeps changing his methodology and for a college professor he knows better. The contortions he goes thru to explain his changes is laughable and in my job we call that data manipulation. My take on that is he's manipulating the data to give a desired result. At elast he's honest enough to admit he's for Kerry, though I figured that out long before I actually read his "about" page.

My take on his data is this, if he lists it strong Bush then Bush's lead there is essentially unassailable. Anything weak Bush should probably be strong Bush, as in odds are Bush will win but Kerry might have a real, but outside chance. Ties are probably weak Bush. Weak Kerry is probably a tie and strong Kerry could be anything from weak Kerry to strong Kerry.

Realclearpolitics.com doesn't try to reinterpret the data, they list it as it's given by the various polling companies and there analysis simply averages all the polls together.

I'm ready to get definite numbers from the electoral college. Then I'll be happy.
