What to do?

This Monday morning, coming home from work, I saw a new 05 V6 coupe at the Brady Ford dealer. Now Brady is a small town and I figured I'd go to my local dealer and have a close up look see. Went there today. NO 05 Mustangs at all. Something about a railroad strike hlding shipment up or something.

Anyway, they have 4 04 Stangs there. 1 V6 and 3 GT's, one of which is a 5 speed. So I check them out and they are willing to deal hard on them to get them gone, especially the V6 which is a fairly plain one. I am somewhat tempted but I really want to hold out for the 05.

So then he tells me about this 2003 Gt vert they got in trade. Got a Procharger on it. Got dyno sheets, 348hp at the rear wheels. Got receipts for a bunch of mods, most of them done by the dealership, why someone would pay the dealer $600 to put in a set of gears is beyond me, but at least the prior own was anal about maintianing it.

$20k, 28,000 miles, nice and clean and rattle free. It'll sping 'em hard in second, no idea what it'll do in third or fourth or fifth.

Wife says to me, how much is the month payments?

I could also use this to get a blower for my current Stang and save the monthly payments.

What to do.

Steve

pro charged would be cool, you could probably sell it to someone later to get an 05 GT..... or you can wait for the 007 Cobra

Actually, I talked to them about marking up the 05's and they claim the are gonna sell them for list, ie no markup. They do have an 05 V6 coming, premium package and all that. We'll see what they are selling it for when it comes.

That blown GT is impressive, but I dunno. I must be getting old, lol.

Ha I hear you...no point in buying an older car with that much power if you just want a hot cruiser

f that get the 04 gt. 348 to the ground is a good amount of power, im thinking high 12's to low low 13's, corvette killer right there. plus looks a whole lot better than "wannabe retro 05" crap. 20k is still pretty high, if i could get 17 for it id do it in a heartbeat.

I just can't see paying sticker price for a car period...that bothers me. You lose several thousand dollars the second you sign the papers on the car. Just not worth it to me.

Several issues here. I happen to like the 05 styling better than the 99-2004 styling. I am a retro kinda guy, in fact I like the 94-98 styling better than the 99-03 styling too. I don't care for the edgy look, I like the rounded organic lines, they remind me of a woman's curves. I don't want a transfomers car like the 99-03's, all hard lines and angles.

My biggest issue with the blown GT isn't the power, I'd love it. I am not looking for a cruiser, but I do not want a straightliner only. I put about 2000 miles a month on my Mustang going to work (206 miles each way). I don't want a gas pig or a tempermental car. I need something that will be reliable day in and day out.

Now I am not saying a blown ride can't be reliable, but I didn't do the work, don't know the guy that had the work done or the places he had it done at. I have no basis for saying the work is done right. And if something happens I am f'ed. Yeah it's got the remainder of it's factory warranty, but that is useless to me isn't it? The only Ford dealer in town knows what it has under the hood and if I have any engine or drivetrain problems I am SOL. Those are the most expensive to fix and probably the most likely to fail.

nope.

I go to work Friday night do 12 on/12 off Friday, Saturday, Sunday and come home Monday morning. Rent a room from a friend for those days I'm away. So I put about 500 miles a weekend on my ride, including the trip to my room and back on weekends. Then it pretty much sits till the next Friday, unless it's soccer season then I take the young'un to practice twice a week, never get to see the games though.

Now if there was no speed limit I could fly, but alas there is. I actually got a warning ticket last Monday. I was doing 74 in a 70. Wee.
