Chemistry help.

Let's help Dom with his chemistry bonus assignment that will allow him to pass the class and not take the damn exam.

1.) Which does not have a noble gas configuration? Na+, Rb+, O2-, Br-, Ca+, AL3+, S2-

2.) The electron configuration of argon differs from those of chlorine and potassium by one electron each. Compare the reactivity of those three elements.

Those are the only two I'm having problems with....right now anyway.

thats easy.

Argon has 8 valence elctrons. it has a full outter shell of electrons, therefore, is stable (noble gas). potassium and chlorine both need one more electron to fill their valance shell. therefore, they are very reactive to form a single bond with any element to get that extra electron to fill its outter shell, to be stable and act like a noble gas.

Let's help Dom one more time with a problem the teacher assigned that you can't do beacause you can't get the right crap.

1.) What type of bond does the pair H, O have?
2.) What type of bond does the pair Ca, O have?

This is how my teacher teaches the class. She'll give you the homework that she hasn't explained yet. Then the next day, if she doesn't take it up and grade it, will explain in and then give a quiz over it. And I can't read the damn book either. Three more weeks.

Then, the 30-point tests count as much as the 4-point homework. I had four bad grades and 90s on all my tests and I have a 68 average in there right now.

Now, can someone explain this.

"Name or give the molecular formual for each of the following acids.

- HF
- acetic acid

And there's more. But can someone explain that to me.

Hey! Monkey! Your smart.

Now what the hell is the empirical formula of nickel oxide. It doesn't say anything about it in the book.

Last question and I'll have it.

Which element pair(s) has/have a pure covalent bond. The teacher told me this much.

"For A you would include the 7 diatomic elements plus nonmetals that bond forming a covalent bond with no difference in electronegativity like C-S .To be a 100% covalent there must be no difference between electronegativities."

electronegativity is the tendancy for an atom to attract electrons within a bond. the atom that is more electronegative will keep the shared electrons closer to itself.
