Dad got a digital camera today for working at Cigna for 20 years, w00t!!!
so i will finally have a pic for my sig but here are some pics of my comp...
yea I know my computer is a mess right now but basically all of those wires outside the case are for video editing equipment...not normally there. And, yes, the wires inside are a mess...i need some cross-ties, or my power supply wires need to shrink...
oh yea, my case costed like 20 bucks so give me a break on that, and yes, i did burn a hole in the from (to increase airflow through that front fan)...
that mobo pic was taken while the computer was running...I was surprised that the fans weren't blurred very much...
and that is a counterstike ct on the glass of the case

between my mom being sick and trying to upgrade my two computers I haven't had time for anything, finally got this one right, and now the other one is giving me a hard time. It is just sitting there beeping, like one short and one long beep and repeating that over and over, I think it actually starts with a long beep. Its an XP 3200 Athlon on an AOPEN nvidia force 2 chipset board. I can't find anything obvious wrong with it, checked and double checked and have been through the quick assembly guide over and over again.

Make sure the RAM sticks are properly seated and in the right slots. Then try one stick and then the other. I've seen improperly installed/bad RAM make 'em do that before.

ATI and Nvidia both make excellent cards. ATI has been around forever and Nvidia stole the technology from the previous Video Card King 3DFX's Voodoo. Was found guilty in court, ordered to pay millions in damages but instead bought 3DFX and instantly became the the Video Card King based on the TNT 2 GPU and GeForce 256 and everything else is history until ATI brought out Radeon.

It is good for consumers to have ATI and Nvidia at each other. It gives us wonderful video cards to choose from.

It was the memory, I have what seems to be a bad 1 ghz stick or Micron type memory, damn, gotta write that woman on ebay I got it from and see if she will replace it, or trade it for another type, it won't run on either of these computers, now i have it up but I am getting a Stop blue screen error saying its gotta inaccessable boot device, well, that is better than where I was last night, gotta go get some sleep, two appointments at VA dental clinic tomorrow.

Don't buy used or generic memory. Just buy new and know what your getting. Stay away from ebay for memory

Its new memory, and its Micron technology, I do agree though that ebay isn't always the best place to get computer stuff, been taken several times with bad stuff.
I have a bad biostar motherboard and the guy i got it from has been thrown off ebay, didn't help me much. It was new too.

hmm well I managed to get my computer to 2ghz with 512mb stick of ram... looks like my second piece of 512 was bad and was holding me back. Now my motherboard is holding my back. I am going to flash the bios here in a second and see if I cant get something more out of it. I am going to update all my drivers flash the bios and mess around with my radeon 9200 and see if I cant get some decent 3dmark03 scores out of it for what it is.

I'll do a before and after so we cna see if I was just wassting my time or not
