should i trade in my evo?

I am toying with the idea of getting rid of my evo. I would only do it if I got into the air force. I am thinking of trading up from an evo to the new Lotus Elise. What do y'all think?

Evo or Elise?

Specs on Elise:
0-60mph 4.9sec (4.7 sec Sport Pack)
Curb weight Base Car 1984 lbs
*(Touring Pack + 15 lbs. - Sport Pack - 20 lbs)
Maximum Power 190hp (141kW) @ 7800rpm (DIN 70020)
1/4mi times are estimated to be about 12.6 or so stock.

Plus it's a Lotus and not a lancer. People will recognize a lotus instead of a "riced out lancer" Know what I mean?

I thank you for stating this cause I was gonna say the same thing. I met a club owner in Boston who owns a brand spankin new 05 Lotus Elise and that biotch is small as hell. I had to literally get on my knees to look in. Dont get me wrong they are pimp

But im quite sure a stock Evo (close to stock even?) in it self would spank that Elise in every way. Only reason why their pimp is cause their exotic and light weight. Besides that thats about it. Give a few small mods and that evo will be even funner.

But thats my two pennys

my evo is already faster. stock for stock they run 0-60 in the same time -- 4.9-5.1sec. I have added well over 50whp to my car already.

Yes, they are exotic and such, but would you not mind owning a lotus?

I like lotus's and evo's but if you have the green to spend on a car like that. Why not opt for say a porsch it would be more comfortable and they are just plain sweet!

turbo back exhaust, intake, intercooler hard pipe kit, boost controller, ECU reflash, fuel pump.. putting right at 300whp.

as for the porsche -- I won't own a boxter. The elise is $45k and the next logical step up from the $30k car i have now. The carrera is well over $60k

keep the evo, i dont really see a lotus elise as a daily driver. and dont make a car purchase based on getting "recognition" for it, thats just stupid imo.

If your choice depends on the AF, keep the evo. Not like you'll be making mad money to fix a lotus if it breaks. Keep what you got. You're already faster than a lotus.

id say keep the Evo. its more practical. Awd kicks ***. I went for a ride in some kids Evo and it was insane. He got off an exit at 100 and it felt like we were doin 50. Plus the headlights that are adjustable inside the car is cool too. Elise would be so expensive to fix. But do whatever makes u happy. I know what its like to get that feeling where u want a change even though u love your car.

British built cars are loads of fun, I had a Triumph Spitfire when I was stationed in England, but they aren't noted for being really dependable, Lotus had always built some beautiful machines though, I used to like one called the Elan, that was back in the 70s.

Mitsubishi has always built good engines, but unless their quality has improved since the late 70s the bodies and interiors are basically trash. Personally I think 4 door sporty cars are a bit strange, but I am old fashioned, and that is just me, I wouldn't own a 4 door car myself.
