really? I saw it pretty well. It didn't look terrifying from the view, it looked like the break of the wave coming at them. I wish i could see how huge the first initial wave was..

114,000 Dead now!! that is not all, how about all the people that lost their homes or other property. And the disease that may come in the aftermath. Thoughts and prayers are good, but people need to take some action, even if it is by making a $5 donation to a releif fund.

Not to put this thread off topic (it won't hurt my feelings if this is the only post about it), but people are criticizing Bush for "not doing enough." What is he supposed to do? He's already announced U.S. aid to the region, in the form of $35 million. That's a hefty chunk of change. More than Japan ($30 million), The United Kingdom ($29 million), Australia ($27 million), Germany ($27 million), France ($20 million), Saudi Arabia ($10 million), China ($2.6 million), or Jackie Chan ($50,000). We have also diverted warships and other military aircraft to the region in order to bring in fresh water.

He has also said that this is only the beginning of our assistance, and that once the actual size of the disaster is known, more can and will be done.

It really should not matter how much he gives. what really matters is that he is willing to help them. Any country that is willing to help deserves respect, regardless of the amount.

ok, now the French have upped their donations.

Quote:
France: We're the No. 1 Aid Donor

One-upping the United States, France said Thursday it is the No. 1 donor for the Asian disaster pledging 42 million euro ($57 million)

Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin's boast that France was vaulting to "the head of all the contributors" appeared to respond to comments from Andrew Natsios, chief of the U.S. Agency for International Development, which distributes American aid.
(BTW, this U.S. Agency for International Development completely depleted it's finances in order to provide the support they already have. They are pleaing for more money from Congress)

wtf, why does everybody have to make everything political? over 117,000 people so far have died, all they need is support and aid. Not for two or more countries to squabble over who gave the most. More likely will die due to diseases like cholera.

all the countries just need to stop being such tards about it and do the right thing.

It just seems like France is making this into some sort of game. I ****ing hate the french, and this gives me another reason why I should. The guy is boasting about being the top country to contribute, what a ****ing tard.
