interesting way of doing encryption

you take a picture of what ever doesnt matter... then you take the pic and alter it pixel at a time, one or two off then when you run a program to compare the images the computer can detect the changes in the pixel colors, one off = 0 and two off = 1 its binary then is translated into what ever form its needed, its undetected to the human eye

You wouldn't be able to do it in .jpg format though, 'cause it doesn't really save the information for every pixel (it's a lossy compression). With .bmp's it would work, though.

I understand what he's saying. For the sake of simplicity, let's say you have the following greyscale picture:

It's an 8x8 drawing of the letter 'A'. You could encode eight ASCII characters within this drawing. Well encode "TRANS_AM":
Letter = Binary
T = 01010100
R = 01010010
A = 01000001
N = 01001110
S = 01010011
_ = 01011111
A = 01000001
M = 01001101

If you lay that grid over the 8x8 image and change by one each pixel that has a '1' on it, you'll get an image that's indistinguishable to the naked eye. A computer, however, can easily decode it using a pixel-by-pixel comparison.

Encoded: I've used yellow and red to illustrate the difference, so you can see it. In reality, the encoded version would look exactly the same as the original.

Sounds like you're describing Steganography, though it's more encoding than encryption since no cipher is used, also binary isn't really the issue, in Steganography a message or hidden data can be inserted into a picture, including compressed JPEG, the hidden data is merely added to the slack space, or placed into sections of the image that, like you say are discarded by the human eye since they only affect the quantizing pattern very slightly on compressed images, or a single pixel on 1:1.

It is believed that the Arab terrorists use Steganography on their websites to communicate with field operatives that have the decoder.

It would be for emailing a message to somebody that you didn't want anybody else to read. You'd email the original picture. Then alter it and send it again. If anybody intercepted the second email, it would just appear that you had sent a picture. If they'd intercepted both the first and second, it would appear that you had just sent the same picture twice (since the changes would be imperceptable by just looking at the image). If you fed both pictures into a program that compared them bit-by-bit, the secret message could be revealed.
