you should need both, a wire to get the data to your computer, then a program to edit the video or whatever, the wire is a usb cable i think lol

you will need a firewire or usb 2.0 card if you dont have one already and the appropraite cable. if you have windows xp everything is just plug and play (windows movie maker should automatically pop up when you plug the camera in)

is it a digital camera? just find what kind of ports are on the camera...usb, firewire (looks like a smaller usb, or does it have the red/white and yellow cable) depending on what you have, you will have to buy a pci card with those ports for you comp (if you don't already have them)...if it is analog (red/white, yellow) you will have to buy and adapter of some sort, but one that converts from analog to digital which could run you about 300 bucks...I know of one called dazzle and it is very nice...but others should be cheaper

yea, thats an analog camera...you would need dazzle, a graphics card that comes with an adapter (my 9600 AIW did, not that I use it but..) which is not a likely option, or another camera...a dv bridge would work (aka dazzle...o, sry about the 300 dollar thing, that was one my friend got that had a lot more than what you need, here is a link to the kind of thing you need... http://www.pinnaclesys.com/ProductPa...27&Langue_ID=7 ....its 70 bucks and uses usb so you wouldn't need to buy anything for your comp (as long as it has a usb port that is). The advantages of getting a camera that has usb/firewire/s-video built into it is that you lose a little bit of quality with the adapter, and they are smaller than full vhs cameras....but when putting vidoe on the internet, you will most likely be purposely taking down the quality of the video to decrease the file size b/c video files are MASSIVE

btw: I just got a Panosonic PV-GS120 which is a 3ccd camcorder

with the adapter, you plug the three/two prongs into it (the red/white/black and yellow one)...and you plug a usb cable into the other end of the adapter and the other end of the usb into the comp
