Your opinion on ford probes?

Well come this summer after I get my tax return i'm gonna be looking into getting something as a car to drive during the week for work and also to be a toy. My main goal is to try and find a fox but with the price i'm looking at I might not find one i'd really be happy with. However I can pretty easily find a 93ish ford probe gt 5spd for about the price i'll be looking at. I do like probe gt's, but wanted to know what y'all thought of them and what kinda performance options I might have?

Umm....dude i'm not changing my mind. I'm not getting rid of the truck. This will be a second car. Something I can drive instead of putting all the damn miles on my truck. I dont want to have driven the life out of my truck in 2 years. Because at the rate i'm going i will hight around 70k by the time i've owned my truck for 2 years.

Actually the probe gt had a 2.5l v6 and they were all 24v. It's also the same engine that was used in the svt contour.

umm... dude, first its a focus, then a fox, then a sn95 gt, gonna make a prerunner, gonna make a street truck, gonna make an offroader, then this then that, regardless if you are getting rid of your truck or not, you still change your mind just as much, if not more than me on what you are going to do.

Focus was not definate, just a thought it the back of my mind. Fox would be a toy NOT my daily driver. I WILL have another sn95 because that is my favorite mustang. I can't help the fact that i want my truck to look nice and go offroad that is why more then likely i'll be doing BOTH. I love seeing my truck all shiney and pretty and I love seeing it dirty. Atleast I have my mind SET on my truck. You however can't make up your mind on what your gonna get and if you ARE gonna get something besides your truck stop making up excusses and just GET IT!. If you dont like your truck then go ahead and get something you will like weither it be a stang or jeep. Or just keep your truck do something already lol

my ex girlfriend had a probe, had 150k miles on it with no probs, not a bad car. I liked driving it, was fast as hell for a probe. They handle good too. Its not a bad car, the 4 cyl are fast too even, and good gas mileage.

1: I cannot sell my truck in its current condition, I tried, it didn't work.
2: No I will not trade it in and carry over what they won't cover on a different car, I will not pay thousands more for a car that is not worth that much...
3: I will make up my mind when I fix my truck to be in decent condition, until then I have every right, just like you, to look around at my options and bench race a bit.
4: I can admit, that when I bought my truck, I got screwed, i payed too much for a car that was not worth it. Try admitting wrong sometime, it feels good, and you don't look like an idiot so much.
5: I like cars, so sue me if I can't make up my mind, when the time comes, I will make my decision based on my current financial situation, leaving myself a little breathing room incase i loose a job or something, and I will base it on what I can find that I like, is a good deal, is in good shape, and wont crap on me a year after I buy it
6: Not making up my mind, and looking at different options are two totally different things. My life situation changes everyday, so I need to find a vehicle that will fit in with what I plan on doing, AKA I want to get back in school here soon, like next fall, I need to get some money put away, therefor need a cheap, reliable, economical vehicle, but who knows, I am going to get a second job here soon, and maybe I will be able to splurge and get something a little nicer, yet less econimicle, say a 98 stang gt vert or something along that line. Who knows? It wall depends on where I am at when the Ram sells.

Seriously, its not that big of a deal, we both change our minds, we both made bad purchases, and now we both are trying to figure out how to fix it and come out on top. So therefore we are equally dumb for what we did, and are equally confused and undecided on how we are going to fix it.

I'd say go with the fox too...but I also had a Probe. (I kinda hate saying it too )
It was a 93 GT and I thought for a 6 cyl, it was pretty quick. Pretty fun to drive too. They did have issues with the distributor though...mine went out and if I remember correctly...cost me around $700 to have replaced by Ford. Believe it or not, they were cheaper than anyone else. Anyway, when I sold it, it had around 160,000 miles on it and was still running fine. Good luck in whatever you choose.

We used to call probes buttplugs. The only one I was farmmiliar with belonged to a friend of mine, and he was forever *****ing about the thing breaking. I say save some more money if you don't have enough yet and get a fox later, not a buttplug sooner.

The 240 is nice if not just somewhat bland on the outside for looks but one thing Nissan is one if not the best engine manufacturer in the world.

I read somewhere a starter went out on someone, it was still under warranty, and it would have cost them over a couple of hundred just for the starter alone.

Get a stang. I'm sure you could find one somewhere for a decent price.

Are you sure about the 86 celica? What I believe you're referring to is what's called the ae86 which is a corolla. The 240sx is just popular because of the Japanese Sylvia (same car blah blah) but it will take some abuse. Drifting is also common in rx-7's [(FC body style) second generation I think] and just like SpectorV said, as a credible sport....o.k.

A good car for low price range, getting a lot of miles...I would personally go with toyota. Camry's are good cars but I'm not sure if you said you wanted to have some fun in this car. If you're lucky enough to find a manual 6cyl Camry you can have some fun, but I'm not sure about price. You might have to take it down to a corolla. Of course no matter what you can always get a fluke one that will have been treated like crap so it won't last you long but it's always a gamble.

As for a fun car that is low priced...it always depends on what you want, drag compared to turns kinda fun. But no matter what there's always a car out there for you.

i have known one person to own a probe but distributor was chit and he kept having electrical problems... i would say it all depends on who owned it before and did they take care of it. i would recomend a 2nd gen rx-7... if the motor bites get an lt-1 kit.. great car peppy, fun to drive looks decent, and if it blows it can be one heck of a project
