If you go and buy a off the shelf system and call your self a computer nerd... you are far mistaken lol

That is a little tougher. I can check but nobody has ever asked me about laptops. Building one is out of the question though.

Yea I know building one isnt feasable but I could really use a laptop for college and for working on the site else where. Since we have wireless in my house now I can work on the site from anywhere which would be nice.

Also if you know of anyone that needs a decent computer I am selling my old one

I just did rebuild/upgrades on both of mine recently, one has Athlon Barton core XP 3000 with 400 mhz front side bus and Via chipset motherboard, the other has the Athlon Barton XP 3200 w/ 400 mhz fsb both have a GB of 400 mhz memory, the XP3200 has AOpen mainboard with nvidia chipset and the memory is a matched pair. Its video card is also Nvidia 256 meg memory ddr card the other video card is 128 meg ATI 7200 I think it is its got a TV card separate also from ATI. I have built like 3 or 4 times in each of these cases, Inwin full tower and a Midtower, can 't think of the brand, but it is a good one, lol. Only thing is they are a little old and no front usb hookups. the midtower has a 400 W power supply the full tower has a 600 watt power supply in it.

I gave up on building PCs moons ago...just isn't worth the hassle or headache that sometimes comes with it...plus, you get way more for the buck today, then evar.

I used to build them, back when a 40 Meg hard drive was huge and DOS was the operating system of choice.

Since then I usually go to Fry's and buy one of thier cheapo linux machines, install my goodies and put in windows.

I have to deal with crappy computers at work so I don't care to fart around with them at home. One of my more problematic machines was built in 1997 and is running JDos. JDos is Japanese Dos. lot's of fun.

I do my own just because. It's a rip off to buy a dell or a gateway if you own a screwdriver and know how to use it. But then again, I"m the type that just waits for things to break so I can open up the tool box. It's definately cheaper to build your own.

All Stock! getting ready for some minor mods: tinting, new bumper and/or bodykit, 3:73 gears, underdrive pullies, tires (they're getting bad) considering new rims. Oh ya- gonna chip it. Thanks for all your suggestions and time answering my questions guys!

I have only owned one factory built machine since about 96 or so, an old IBM ps2 386, my brother built me one, I watched, he upgraded it a few times, he was always busy, I figured I could do it myself, been upgrading and building them since. LOL. Have probably done a dozen or so, both my brothers are computer engineering types, so if I have problems I call on them, they are my tech advisors I guess, lol. I love to mess with them.

I am quite sure you can buy a computer that works for less than you can build one for, but when you build your own you can get better, you get what you want, and exactly what you want, nothing else, that is what I really like about it, other than the fun of doing it myself.
