I think we deserve a prize.

Last night at 12:45 AM me, my bro, and my friend took his Jetta with manual transmission into an empty huge parking lot. By the time it was about 2:15..

I can now manually shift, as can my bro (Lupin).

What a ***** it was, but once you got it.. it stuck.

I learned how to drive a stick when I was around 13.....lol. It's just annoying when I go from driving something like a stang to a truck...crazy clutch differences.

i'm used to the truck - you have to push the clutch in a good 6 inches.

i tried to drive my sister's civic, and i couldn't do it. i couldn't feel where it engaged or nuthin'.

My roommate had a 93 Z71 5 speed and a 93 mitsubishi eclipse 5 speed, try switching from one of those to the other. Then you get in the 5 speed ranger (which has no gas pedal, just a wire run from the throttle out the hood to the driver side window) and it screws everything up lol

Haha...I'm gonna have to get some pics of my roommate's ranger sometime. It looks like a piece of crap, but just won't die. It's rusted beyond recognition, been driven off into numerous catfish ponds...lol. Poor truck. I got in it last year and the throttle cable broke...so I cut off about 6 feet of speaker wire and ran that to the throttle under the hood and out the hood to the window. Now, to shift gears you have to push in clutch, let off wire, and shift gears, this is all while driving down a catfish pond levee BTW..it never leaves the farm.

Next time I go out to the shop I'll snap some pics of the whole setup for everyone. We want to eventually turn it into a baja runner type truck, but for now it's just sitting out at the shop, probably on 4 flat tires lol.

The only way I can go without having the car go back is peeling out.

Yes.. I burned out in a front wheel drive car

i bought my eclipse without even test driving it. daddy had to drive it home. i knew the basics but didnt know the physics of it. so dad handed me the keys and said "go have fun". i just eased off the clutch till it started to move, then gave it gas and pulled off the clutch and took off.

btw unless i get a truck or something, i will never go back to automatics.

i have to think that the automatic transmissions are one of the worst inventions ever, its prolly up there in the ranks with the invention of FWD and hondas invention of VTEC.
