They're very nice cars for your money. GM used to sell the best bang for your buck with the Z28's and TransAms but they stopped making them, O well. If it was a 95 then you had the LT1, cast block, but aluminum heads, same thing offered in the corvette around that time. T56 6 speed tranny, same one in the 2000 cobra r, the 03-04 Cobra, and the Viper. Very solid cars, last forever, and have decent power for the price. The rear window visibility sucks though, at least the dozen or so I've driven.

But...still a chebby

you obviously havnt driven a T56

i can beat the crap out of a T5 or T45 all day, takes me a while to get used to a T56, the gears are so close together, that you think youre going to third, then the car bogs like a mother...

i had the pleasure of driving a few badass LS1's

one was a 2002 WS6, auto, heads, cam, gears, TQ converter, headers back exhaust, LS6 intake manifold, air cleaner lid, all the typical LS1 stuff, and a tune using LS1 edit...the car was on skinnies and some slicks, i got to drive it in the rain to go get food...

another one was a 2001 SS, it was similar to the WS6 but a T56, and was on street tires, man, first and second were useless, spin through first, spin through second, spin halfway through third, bark 4th...it was scary at times

He's pretty much correct. The Corvettes were rated at 345, the WS6es and SSes were rated at 325, and the Z28 and regular T/As were rated at 305. They all put around 300 to the wheels (about 345 crank).

All auto WS6es had the performance gear (3.23). You could get a regular T/A or Z28 with the performance gear or the standard gear (2.73). All the 6-speed cars got 3.42.

mark, i thought the T/A were rated at 320, and the WS6 was 325?

brad...all the f-bodies from at least 82+ had a "single" exhaust, y-pipe, then a crossflow muffler

some thirdgens had a dual cat setup which made for a longer y-pipe
