I dunno if you guys have ever heard of these, but they're metal plates that insert into boots that are supposed to protect metatarsals from injury in an accident involving dropped weights.

Not a good idea. I know a laywer who took a company to court because one of his clients had all 5 of his toes lopped off when weight fell on his boot and caused the "metatarsal protectors" to slice.

They make a certain type of metal toe'd boots that work against this happening. That happened to an employee at my dad's work, my dad went out and found these that night lol.
As far as something falling on you...Jeremy can tell you engine's aren't light.
He was working on his POS z when his engine stand (a piece of plywood across two sawhorses) collapsed and caused the engine to fall on his leg. Yup, I went and met him at the hospital lol

I was out of work for 2 weeks with a sprained shoulder, and fractured rib (I went back to light duty for another 2 weeks) when I had a lift almost collapse, it gave out, landed on the safety latches, and the rear I was putting in fell out (IRS rear in an expedition, I had the 2 studs at the back holding it up, not secured yet, but if the lift hadn't slammed onto the latches, it wouldn't have fallen out.., was working on that at the moment it happened.. I dove out of the way but it happened so fast, no warning whatsoever.. the rear somehow landed on my right shoulder before leaving a big dent in the floor

that hurt
