Evals Mustang Update (for everyone wanting/wondering!) *PICS

Well everything is going pretty well for my little stang getting put back together. I had to send the Wiseco pistons back to get them machined with clips and new pins...cost $200 more, but oh well they are ready to install now. I went and took them down with the rods to my shop this passed friday. My engine should be on a stand now and in about 1-2 days time Ben Alameda is going to dismantle is and send it to the machine shop to get bored out!

The machine shop should have it for 3 days he said, then it comes back and he puts it together. Puts the 180 degree thermo with RGR lower intake, RPM 216/225 cam with CompCam Pushrods and shim kit. The RPM heads go back on with FORD 99+ 3 layer head gaskets! Intakes, timing cover and exhaust are all going to be felpro. I felt the strongest head gaskets i could get were those 3 layer ones, so i did

Once that is set to roll...i pay him for his services (~$930) and bring my engine back here...then my friend is installing it (the one that took it apart and OUT in couple of hours). I have the 10lb pulley for it already, powdercoated valve covers and discharge tube of vortech (red), i just need to go and get the 114.5" gates belt for that 10psi pulley. I also picked me up some MAC Shorty headers for $50 from a buddy, with new header bolts as well. ARP bolts are being used THROUGHOUT the engine btw...heads, to rods. I also added a new addition the Spec Stage II racing clutch, so that bad boy is waiting to get installed too. So all that in addition to my 42#, fordchip, 250walbro fuel pump and 80mm maf, vortech, ported intake, exhaust...I predict to hit about 260rwhp, 300rwtq...so about 300hp at the crank and 330 or so tq.

I got a number of more sponsors while my car was down....new powerslot rotors, intake spacers, thermostat, new custom face gauges, buillit pedals, etc...I am up to 10 sponsors now and will be ready to defend my title on September 13, 2003 @ the 7th Annual SALEEN CAR SHOW! Wish me luck!

So i will be driving like a granda for the first 1000 miles to be sure, changing the oil and all like crazy, following the instructions from Ben Alameda to not use my car a lot until it reaches a certain temperature.

Anyhow there is the update, let me know if anyone has questions...I am pretty excited I am almost getting my stang back after like 4 months!! LATER!!

i'm not sure but i don't think the 3 layered gaskets were needed, did you talk to someone about it? good deal on the shorties. got mine for 250 or so.

what gauges do you have? how much for fuel press. inside the cockpit? i hear it's a lot.

you're 8 ribbed right?

6 ribbed i believe...need to double check, not something i focus on lol Its not that they were NEEDED, its that i wanted them for extra protection

the shorties were a sure go with that price

I have the a/f that i need to install, boost, oil and water <-- in clock pod

don't have the fuel pressure one. I actually just got the a/f one...awesome condition for $30 local...i am about to buy the dual pod for it and the boost i already have and sell my single pod to my bro for HIS a/f guage

the 6 rib is stock.

you really should be thinking about converting to 8 rib running 10psi. slipping sucks and you can get yourself in a mess too.

shorties suck. you should stick w/ those for a while, then get you some long tubes. those will add you some hp and a bit of torque.

congrats on it coming together though.

eval,

if you floor it and quickly gain boost, and it seems like it shudders as if you pegged the MAF, and you hear some wierd noises, that is the belt slipping.

did you use the lightning MAF 80mm or another? i will be getting the same pump, injectors, and lightning MAF as you. i know they have been proven time and time again, but if you'd let me know your own personal experience with them i would appreciate it. good luck man.

Slow232 would rather buy a 95 5.0 for 5k and slap a 1,500 blower kit on and get 300 rwhp and have a sweet sounding exhaust note...

Ok, Cliff notes:

EVal's engine is still in the shop... making EVERY other car that runs faster than his. Yes, my car runs faster than EVals at the moment.

Hell, the Aspire that stalled at the intersection this morning goes faster than Eval's car at the moment!!

Eval prefers his show stoppers, super fast v6 3.8 engine over the 5.0 thanks

stock Gt's have 80mm maf's? i'd doubt that, even a supercharged 5.4L triton only get 80mm's w/ 42#ers+ (maybe 50???)

i'll be doing similar fuel upgrades myself here soon, just sorting things out for now.

Ok everyone,
here is the most recent update:
I took my engine out of Ben Alamedas shop (took way too long!!). Ben had my engine for 1 month+ and did not TOUCH IT....so i went and found another shop called L&R Engine ~25min from me. Owner and I talked for a while, and he invited me down to give me a complete tour of his place. He even showed me some sc heads he is p&p SICK! He opened the intake ports like TWICE THE SIZE and his flow numbers were like ...he said he is still testing them. So he is going to work on my sc heads...b/c mik just told me that the heads i got were the FIRST ones he ever did...so they aren't all that great when my new shop took a look.

Anyhow i call Ben's shop to take my engine (he opens at 4pm) and left a message at 1pm, "don't touch the engine, i am taking it today" so guess what he did when i went to get it.....yeah, he ripped off my upper and heads and said he was going to get my lower half off. I guess he didn't want to lose a customer...but #### that after 1 month not taking off ONE bolt.....hell with that!! BYE!! So i took it and went to the other shop the following morning. I go the next day and my engine is completely taken apart and cleaned. The next day the block is already BORED and is getting honed. And this shop is sponsoring me...so for $100 i got the steel forged sc tbird crankshaft installed and completely rebalanced for reassurance 8) He is also going to put Chevy Stainless Steel valves and open up the heads accordingly. I am already sending Rellik to them for p&p...so if ANYONE needs work, just let me know and I will hook you up with mad low prices and good *** work. Just send me your intakes and I will personally take them down to the shop, or you can send them to the shop.

This shop is totally awesome, the owner is very honest too. They just got their NEW website up...so its not done yet
http://www.lnrengine.com

So I anticipate my engine to be ready BY wednesday. I am going down on Tuesday afternoon to check on how its going and with another friend that is going to do p&p work on his 00 v6 stang. I will be sure to take pics of my setup for you guys. [/url]

eval,

i may require some work on a lower intake --> adapter plate in the coming months. there are bugs to be worked out, and the seal between the two manifolds is a big one on the "to do" list. i'm not sure if it'd make a difference, but this is for the first split port roots blower intake manifold, something that hasn't been done, ever. perhaps that would interest him publicity-wise. and if it fails, "what was that guy's name again?"
