Only took them 3 years to finally admit after all this BS hassle thats been going on. I just hope we dont go into another war cause this will definitly hands down screw us over as a country. Making statements like this

'The communist nation argued it needs protection against what it considers an increasingly hostile United States.'

Thats not a very comforting statement esp in the situation our country is in. If we make a fudge up they basically would take us out in instant. Scary for sure

That is assuming this weapon is worth anything. How good is it really? How big is it? How many?

I don't see us going to war with them. They have China and Japan to be afraid of over there. If they launch a attack on S. Korea they are toast in more ways than one.

N. Korea is not a threat to us like Iran and Iraq are with a Nuclear Weapon. Asia has checks and balances for N. Korea as far as that goes. Iran and Iraq don't. The Middle East is highly unstable. Iran getting Nuclear weapons is a far greater threat than N Korea.

Iran is the Next Iraq in the future.

We will bomb them just like we did in Iraq in 1998 except on a greater scale. Our targets will be their Nuclear Facilites and other targets we are itching to take out.

What happens from then depends on how Iran reacts

Does anybody know the ONLY reason we have soldiers in S. Korea?

We have the exact number of soldiers there that are there for one specific reason.

Stop the North Koreans in case of another invasion?
Nah.

Stop China?
Nah.

Stop any other country?
Nah.

The US Military has decided that the number of soldiers we have in S. Korea is the minimum number of deaths that the U.S. public would see as tragic enough to give the ok for the nuclear weapons to be launched.

In an event of an attack, from damn near anybody, those soldiers are toast. There are way too few to ever stop an invasion that was anything other than laughable.

Having nukes is not the same as being able to deliver nukes in the US.

Still think we don't need a missle defense shield?

I think they have access to some theatre/tactical nuclear weapons, in case the **** hits the fan. Not like they really need them, since we have silos and silos of Minuteman III missiles stateside, that can hit any point on the globe.

North Korea is thought to have uranium based nuclear weapons, probably very similiar to the "Little Boy" bomb that we dropped on Hiroshima. About 15 kiloton yield. Miniscule by today's standards.

Any country like US, russia, china, korea, Im sure all have nuclear weapons of one kind or another. And we wont care about that untill they run an airplane into the states so I dont see why they seemed so suprised.

Bringing this thread back to life, little boy used a method of shooting a uranium 235 bullet because uranium 235 has a property, unlike most others, (uranium 233 or plutonium 239) that allows the nucleus to absorb the neutron and split the atom "easily" and immediatly. However, like markuzls1 said, we have bombs that are more than 1000 times more powerful than that now. Not saying we'd use them though. Michael Moore would flip.
