Blink182 No more

well after Head leaves KoRn, didnt think my day could get any worse. i read on my tab forum Blink182 go on a "indefinite Hiatus". i totally did not even see that one coming for years.

i know not alot of people like blink cause they think theyre too poppy, but i love blink. the first time i heard dammit way back in the day was what got me into music. mark hoppus is my idol and if it wasnt for going to one of their concerts and being front row mosh pit and seeing the energy he puts out and his crazyness ida never wanted to learn how to play bass.

i know that Indefinite means that its not forever, and they stated their reason for going their own ways was that they have been doing this for a long time and havent had a chance to really spend real time with their families in years(since before the TRL era). more than likely theyll go do their own thing, be with family and get to bask in their sucess, then decide to get back together like most bands do. i give it 3 years before we hear any new blink.

now we get to wait for a new transplants and maybe even another boxcar racer album.

They will do like Metallica did before their black album. Take a little over a year break and say they are no more to spend time w/ their families and then go back on the road.

Blink 182 has it's ups and downs. Back in the day they sounded like crap and everyone who listens to them now has to say they liked them back in the day so that they can be original. Their new stuff isn't that great either. The last new songs I liked were "I miss you" and "What went wrong". Other than that, Enema of the State, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, and The Mark Tom and Travis show were all really great cds that you could listen to all the way through without skipping a song. But I never really liked Boxcar Racer.

their last cd was badass, you just had to see through the meanings. it didnt do as good cause they didnt release the better songs( letter to you, obvious, easy target). i went to see them at The Avalon in hollywood the night they released the new album, and that was prolly their best show ive seen since seeing them with green day and jimmy eat world.

and what went wrong was a song on TMTTS i believe.

I'm happy they broke up, I hated them. You know who else I really hated. That John Maynard guy, or what ever his name is. Man, I really hate that guy and Barbara Striesand, or how ever you spell that ugly biotch's name.

Korn breaking up is one thing...It affects a hell of a lot more people. If anyone remembers Korn was HUGE in the 90s. It ate up the TRL countdowns everytime a single was released. Head will be missed.

Blink is a whole different story. Not too many are into it's "pop" music or whatever that "emo" is. It just doesn't seem the same.

Those pop bands never last long anyways. You rarely see any of them go for longer than a few years. Nothing like rock bands.

im not sure about that, blink was probably more popular than korn, and yes I remember those days, as when korn wasn't even heard of I listened to them, the more they got mainstream though the less I liked them, didn't mean they weren't a good band or probably even a better band than the early days, but I didn't like the fact that everyone suddenly knew about one of my "underground" bands.
the thing about blink is though they are incredibly popular, they're were just as many people that enjoyed not liking them as liking them, can't say people had too much disgust for korn.

guys you realize blink has been around far before they became popular right? dammit was pretty mucht their first single... before that theres at least 4-5 albums that were out. Blink by far had more of a fan base than korn ever did... all korn was, was the ****in mansonites back in junior high.. corn was a "loser" band that the "druggies" followed back in the days of junior high and early HS. Blink was way bigger than korn, and this is coming from somone that has all of both the bands albums.

according to www.musicplasma.com (which is a freakin sweet web page, btw) KoRn and Blink 182 have almost the exact same popularity. I have no idea how they derive that, but check out the page anyways. it's pretty cool.

ah well travis just spoke out, saying theyre just taking a vacation and WILL be back and that the rumors over brotherly fighting and such are wrong. he also said that they did the same thing before doing theyre "blink 182 album(pink face)" and that was when travis played with the transplants, and tom and travis started boxcar racer. so look out for new transplants ****, who, are going to be on the Warped Tour this year. w00t.

As far as I can tell from the people around me, blink 182 was far more popular than korn; it's not even a contest. However, I am sure other places people are the kind that can't like blink 182 for whatever reason and that both bands are about equally popular.

silverstangboy: people like you baffle me. If you like a band it should be for the music. The people that like them or how many people like them has nothing to do with their music unless they change for the crowd. But you said directly "but I didn't like the fact that everyone suddenly knew about one of my "underground" bands" What does it matter if everybody likes them or not? Back in the day a certain type of crowd liked NOFX and they had liked them for a long time, but once everybody had heard about them they didn't like them anymore even though their music hadn't changed a bit. It doesn't make sense to me unless you like a band for show (which is exactly why I think all the "hardcore" blink fans had to like them "before they were popular") as if it matters.

what I said has a double meaning, notice that most bands when they get hugely popular, or even slightly popular they have a huge change in marketing strategy and sound, mainly sound, huge changes in sound that are more aimed towards mainstream, and im not so much a fan of that type of music, I like my music to be harse, unfriendly and sometimes relavent to only a small type of people, and korn was that, while the image was kept... they had a huge change in their sound, its like a band is a really good band till its discovered by the rest of the world, you know, it was cool to meantion a band and only maybe one or two people know who you were talking about, that was a fresh virgin band that was unknown and untainted by RIAA.. and we all knew, thats what underground is about, soon as everyone starts to catch on to a band from the underground, they produce one or two more decent albulms, sign a huge contract doing so, and then everything changes

oh and just so you know, I liked blink after they became popular, I had no idea who they were before then

so no, its not about an image
and if you don't believe me, you should ask spectorv about my taste in music lol, he'll tell you that the image I get from it doesn't do me any good hehehe, because everyone hates what I listen too, there is no positive image.
