Sh*t

Just got the car back from the dealer, where I got the oil, fuel filter, and belt changed. (I'm working too many hours to do it myself) And it looks like my rear main seal is starting to go, and the seal around where the speed sensor goes into the tranny is starting to leak too. They said the estimate on the rear main is around $500. Does that sound right?

On the bright side, I posted some newer pics in my garage...

Rear main seal. If it's just your diff case cover gasket... that's an easy fix.... it's just really messy if you dont do it with an oil basin

I have no clue about your speed sensor...

the seal at the trans speed sensor shouldn't cost much more than $40+ labor tops, comes out easy, goes in easy..

haven't seen many 3.8's with the rear main leaking though ? what do I know

tq converters cost about 700. anyways i think they mean the pinion seal, you could do that your self, and the seal where the speed sensor is, if the tail shaft housing can be taken off that should cost no more than 70 bucks because they wont have to drop the tranny

I guess I'll try to put that off as long as I can so I can get the tq conv in at the same time. Well, I knew I already got all the cheap mods...

If you have a rear seal leaking see if you can get a tranny shop to help. The reason is Tranny shops do think it is a big deal to remove the tranny. Most shops only charge 80-120 to remove and in stall. Dealers think it is a big deal to remove the tranny. That is why if it is not under warranty drive by all dealerships like they have the plague. I only go to dealerships to

A. To buy a car
B. To buy genuine parts

Damn that sucks balls. I hate dealerships (yep and I work for one)

I wouldnt trust most dealerships though they are just there to make more money for themselves (cause thats a mechanics income)

Id do the job yourself mmhms and find a manual for the sensor cause sensors are damn easy to do
