Cool, it's not just me then. I thought my computer was hosed since I Couldn't re-install my "purchased" copy of McAfee. Just so happened I Couldn't connect to Ares anymore either.

I used to use WinMX before I went to ares....seemed ok...

I use Limewire, but I think the download speeds are limited when you use the free version. Mine max out at about 57 kb/s

Bearshare allows you to pick the client you want to download from most are 128 Kbs ad a few are faster. Typically a song will download in around a min or less. If while starting to download it shows it is going to take a while I will cut transmission and look for another client to download from.

yeah, i had problems with ares too.

i just loaded bearshare onto my computer last night, and i am very impressed. there are a lot of files, and the download times are extremely fast.

edit - if you do get bearshare, run adaware immediatly after installing it. bearshare will load about 50 seperate adwares on your computer, and it will create new folders loaded with adware. just run adaware, and it will be gone.

kazaa was ok for me, but i got tired of searches being queued all the time and the popups all the time. After reading the requirements for bearshare, and having to allow the adware tracking junk and popups, I will be avoiding that one as well. **** that popup ****. I think I might have to go back to WinMX and see if I can actually get things to download instead of queuing forever...unless area will come back up.

I use Kiwi Alpha it works pretty good and with my broadband internet songs download in about 2-3 minutes. You have to somehow remove the software that you download with it I did but I forgot how. If you just try to straight up delete it Kiwi Alpha won't work. But once you get rid of it it is an excellent program...at least IMO.

a single scan with adaware will take care of all that stuff. when you install bearshare, it also installs adware on your computer, so a quick scan with adaware will permanantly delete that stuff.

That is full of ***** there is not popups as soon as you delete the crap that is also loaded as said above.

I run a tight computer and dont have any popups and Bearshare is the best with the largest listing of Songs. Movies (including porn for all the meat beaters) and movies.

You are just lazy!!!!

I am not lazy...I just pace myself.

I run a tight computer as well, and don't trust any products that I use. I have adware and run it consistently, but, I don't trust that it will remove everything. It may, and there may be no issues, but, I don't trust it. I am very cinicle (sp?) in that way. I also don't like when they "force" you to install junk that no one wants in the first place, and make you trust some 3rd party source to get rid of it. That's all my problem is....a lack of trust.

By the way...those having issues with ares...I managed to get mine working again.

All I needed to do was install the latest version of ares and it seems to be ok now. There are other steps to fix the issue if you are still having issues as well. Those steps are here:

http://www.peerevolution.com/forums/...ead.php?t=3936

back to pacing myself again...without spyware/adware removal
