They must be skeered that they may not be re-elected if these prices keep going up. Bout time they thought about it. Too bad we won't see the effects for 10 or so years....when gas will be about $15 a gallon in the south....

Does that mean that gas prices will drop down to the < 1.20 per gallon mark again?

It is a step in the right direction. We won't see impact for a few years but atleast we are getting there.

The odds of there being drastic drops are probably slim to none. When we do start seeing effects from this, there will be others in power that, like OPEC, will want to ensure prices stay at a certain level so that their pockets stay full. Production will change to ensure they still get paid. As long as we get out of the dependancy of rag heads...that is a move in a right direction.

Looky what i just found

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,150675,00.html

Quote:
1995: Congress, using the budget process, authorizes oil drilling in the coastal plain, but President Clinton (search) vetoes it.
and looky what was said in the article in my first post:

Quote:
"We won't see this oil for 10 years.
Just think... had Clinton not vetoed it and let it go through we would now be seeing the oil from ANWR being put into the market

Here is a big **** you Clinton

Drilling in Alaska is not changing the price of the oil,OPEC will change and the dollar is going down is not helping the situation.

haha nice first post. No one knows how much drilling in Alaska is going to help but it is a step in the right direction regardless. 750,000 Barrels of Oil a day is better than 0 oil a day from ANWR.

What is not helping the situation is our reliance on Opec. Period. We are puppets to them. They have to much power to control our access to the very thing this country strives on.

The inability to make a complete sentence doesn't help with the price of oil either.

I say it's a good thing that they are driling there, it's fking Alaska, they said it was a 1 million square mile Refuge anyway right? There's plenty of fking room if you ask me.

Down with OPEC, Oil prices, and people that put animals before humans. Animals are only thinking where the next meal is coming from, we have more of a purpose here...I'm ranting again.

I think we should all stop using oil and just ride bikes, eat tofu, stand up to the man, and sing songs about nature.

Oh well I feel bad for the cocunotu or whatever and the polar bears, but Survival of the fittest right? I do doubt the price of gas will go down. but at least the US will be using its own resources, And Idiots like president chavez in Venezuela will loose the leverage to have the balls to defy the US.

That is .001. That much of the land will be taken up with drilling pads. .001.

On a scale as large as Alaska, .001 is still a lot of land.

What do you think our purpose is then? We just go through life convincing ourselves that we have a purpose, but in the end nothing else is changed. We'll all die no matter what oil prices are.

I'm just stirring up controversy

So that doesn't mean we can't fight to make this life more enjoyable just because we die. That is a HORRIBLE attitude to carry.

And that is not alot of land for the benifits we would see from it.
