Stuck on what stang to get:-\

Well i was thinking bout getting a 01 GT ....but then as i thought more about it, i was unsure if i should do that, or get a 99-00 GT so i would have more money to add stuff. Or buy a 92 5.0 GT and add ALOT to it. The 92 is probably my favorite, but i dont know if its the most cost effective and safest as far as newer safety features go. What do you guys think?

It wouldn't be that much more for a cobra if any. Have you checked?

You can learn to drive stick very fast. I did, I learned on my car with no help, and I didn't kill the tranny or burn out the clutch or anything!!!!

I'd get the 92 GT if its in REALLY good shape

and spend the money you saved on heads, intake, headers, clutch and rear upgrades..

by the time you're through you'll be hauling past the other cars you listed

of course I have a 'thing' for mustang hatchbacks..

traction control? what's that?

aside from a few corners in the rain where I was too aggressive in my '02 the traction control's bothered me more than anything

the lack of ABS in my '89 has made for some scary wet road stops but I learned how to pulse the pedal as you should in non ABS cars..

a 92 has airbags, and seatbelts..

if you're so concerned about safety you shouldn't be interested in mustangs anyway at least the insurance companies think so

Oh that's another point - my 89 = $620 for full coverage in a year, my '02 = $2200 for full coverage in a year

just a fyi

good luck with whatever you choose!

nah man theres no nothing in a 5.0 well mine dont have ABS no airbags no nothing just the seat belts and brakes are your friend

personally coming from a fox owner who drives his everyday, from snowstorms to rainstorms its been through it all. **** breaks. but that comes with age. doesnt help that I also have a power adder but age comes issues. and thats on top of maintaining the car

Just look for the newer car. Thats what Im personally doing now looking for a new DD. Hopefully get my hands on a 97-99 Explorer in the next two weeks cause I just cant drive that car in anymore. I survived one snow season. I dont wanna perform in that car again in one :yup:

My thoughts exactly. Plus insurance is cheaper, they handle better, and have a HUGE aftermarket. Interior is the worst though....

Honestly you can pretty much get a 94-95 5.0 for about the same as a 92. I'd spend the extra 1-2k on it. It's better over all for a daily driver. Plus if your really into the exterior styling its one of the nicest(i'm partial ) however. Get one and get the 347 stroker kit .

My dream car is a sn95 with a 347stroker, blown with nitrous and a tremec 6spd

insurance isnt cheaper for a fox...liability is liability theres no way around it. mines 200 a month for the 88 (im 19 with a clean driving record) my friends 00 v6 5spd is 200 a month aswell and hes 19 with 1 accident. the car has nothing to do with the insurance that much anymore as far as liability goes. That ofcouse is what im assuming you would put it on since they aint that expensive .

I've been smoking pot, want some? Here. But anyway, I don't have hard proof but it's a well known fact that smaller cars outhandle longer cars. A wider wheel base also helps with handling too am I right?

Now the length of a 92 GT is 179.6 inches, a 99 GT is 183.5 inches. Wheelbases respectively are 100.5 an 101.3. The newer one has a wider wheel base but is longer by about 4 inches. Not that big of a difference. What about weight?? Well I don't know exact numbers on that but I'm just going to assume that they are about even, 92 MAYBE weighing a bit less. I don't know how much the old 5.0's weighed compared to new modular engines. A 92's height is 52in while a 99's is 53.2in, lower center of gravity, although not by much.

Already the 92 is a smaller car, not by much but still smaller. Now, goto any autocross that has a good amount of Mustangs and I bet there are a lot more Fox body's than SN95's pulling in super quick times.

I'm no AX guru or suspension master or anything, I'm just saying I think a brand new STOCK Fox up against a brand new STOCK SN95 would handle better. With suspension upgrades being so plentiful thesedays though, it wouldn't be to hard to make a race winning car out of either.

Lets face it, American cars all go staright real nice, but when you start to play with drifting and steering in one and switch to a smaller lighter import car, you notice a difference.

I'm not sure that this applies to my point but I'd like to add that I have driven a 93 GT and a 2000 gt, both 5 speed. Took them both for a test drive last summer. I went on Route 92 along this creek, tight S turns for 3 or 4 miles straight. I was able to do 65 through the corners feeling safe in the 93 while I only felt safe doing about 55-60 in the 00.

Im not getting mad or pissed or ranting or anything, just trying to state my opinion.

oldschool, not true, the revised versions of 347's have no oiling problems whatsoever, oh and its not leaks that are the problem, the problem originally was the that wrist pin is pushed so close to the rings of the piston (actually int them) that oil was being burnt... problem fixed though

im thinking that a 94+ is going to handle better, mod for mod with suspension
but im not sure, and I have seen alot of fox guys doing some impressive things in auto X, even upsetting some porshe's
