Our car's biography..

I made this topic because I was inspired by a rollover I had yesterday. I was casually driving and looked down because I wanted to see how many miles I had on her.....

55554.6

...so i watched her roll over to 55555.0 and then i was even more psyched when it hit 55555.5.

shes still young. she got in 2 accidents though and failed emissions once. plus, she never seen a garage. i live in the "ghetto" at home and now she is parked in a parking lot at college. neither of which are indoors. PA winters are bad too.. shes seen more salt than.. i dunno... something that sees a lot of salt. I drive her pretty hard too. I just hope she lives to at least 120,000ish.

so where is everyone else's car life at?

my '89 has 189k miles on it ... but its time for a full restoration lol

best mileage ever...

going to philadelphia with a few of my classmates for an art class project (forced to take the class to get the degree...) we were in his ... 92? celebrity..

his odometer hit 66,666.6 miles right before the bridge into philadelphia

after we got there..

we
1) took the wrong turn, ended up on some weird, huge but deserted highway..
2) went to back up to get into a turn lane on said highway... in plain sight of an officer (without realizing) got pulled over then..
3) after making turn onto a wrong way street, did a u turn... with an officer coming down the road ahead of us
got pulled over then
4) listened to officers' directions, ended up going the wrong way down 21st street (as in into the ghetto, rather than into the art museum)
5) hit a pot hole, exhaust fell off and started dragging
6) stopped IN the ghetto to ghetto rig the exhaust back onto the car (the pipe fell off behind the muffler, and fell FORWARDS, dragging along the ground.. if it had just been the back of the exhaust hanging down we wouldn't have cared.. lol)
7) with loud car, and lost in ghetto got pulled over by another officer, who finally pointed us in the right direction
8) some very weird looking chicks in the car next to us at the next 2-lane light were eyeing me up, I was scared.
9) got to art museum, drove around the museum SIX times before we found a spot
10) had to pay $7 just to get the receipt to prove I was there.
11) Return to car to find someone had parked so close on the drivers side we could not get in (key didn't work in passenger side, it was a different lock) we ended up crawling in through the trunk, which wasn't fun because the seats weren't MEANT to fold flat

only good part about the trip was leaving philly, lol... I wanted a cheesesteak but noooo the wusses wanted to leave

Thats funny you mention 130k

cause last night at 8:13 pm my car officially hit 130,000.0 really looks like 30,000.0 - gotta love old technology

BTW its an 89 driven by 2 women before I got it 100% stock unmolested 116K

Why do you wax every other month??? That is probably the most excessive use of wax I have ever heard of. I believe most car companies and paint professionals say wax no more than every 6 months.

But hey it is your car.

99 with 81,889 miles. I change the oil every 3k with synthetic and baby her big time. I wash and detail about every weekend and also wax every week end. The reason I wax every week end is that I was the car with Dawn, and Dawn removes the wax. Plus I do touch-up, claybar, and detailing.

Depends. I've been lucky. There was a big door ding on the pax side that someone did in a parking lot. It was about an inch deep and 4 by 4 inches in width. I was upset. Filed a report with my insurance, etc. I went out and bought a Ding King and it is pretty much gone.

Have to realize that after 23 years in the Air Force, and not being able to have anything nice because of moving all over, raising kids, etc.

Plus taking care of the car gets me outside and out of my office. Otherwise I would be doing coding and doing Threat Mitigation Studies.

Upset is cool I was upset when kids scratch my car all up. I also forgot you are older than most here. So I hope you would not cry But I remember a couple of people breaking down and crying. They got to the point of actually thinking aboutn harming themselves over it.

Care for your car is great but obsession is not good no matter what it is.

Not obsessed I would say. Just learning things and having fun. I won't forget the day the towed my last car into the driveway after it had rolled by my son.

My son was 15 miles away, hiding because he, my wife, and everyone else thought I was going to kill him. I was actually quite calm and was more worried about him.

Needless to say, I can count on my hand the number of people who have driven the car. He is not one of them, nor will he.

LOL... I wouldn't harm myself or anything but I would probably cry if my Stang got wrecked or damaged really bad, mostly because I just got it, and I had to wait so long to get a newer one that I really like!!!

That is OK . Not to be sexist but Girls tend to get more emotional about things like cars and accidents. There is something just not right about a guy in his 20's crying about his car being wrecked!!!!
