my freind lives in a really rich neighborhood with his grandparents. needless to say there was an abundance of open wireless networks that he is feeding off of.

oh, and I don't use wireless, so insecure... tisk tisk, my advise to you is to change the key once a month or maybe 2-3 months, that will keep people from leaching from you, that is if you end up having problems, monitor who's connecting to it also

my parents have wireless, but they live farther in the boones than brandon does, so I could leave it wide open if I wanted, I do however have it somewhat secure.

Mine is in the basement for now.

It will be moving up stairs when the new office is done.
I still get good reception with it down there.

yeah, right on the parkway in hustville is so the boonies man!!!

normally when I war drive I can pick up signals from across the street or farther with normal hardware, using a directional antenna people can pick up signals.. on average about as far as 2-5 miles away, so don't think that you'd be able to see someone goofing with your stuff , all they have to be is interested in whats on your local, stealing interenet is just one of the more common reasons people like to wardrive

You need to upgrade to Cat.6

Besides, with a 128 WEP the chances of ANYONE just walking into a wireless network is pretty slim. Heck, even a 64bit WEP is pretty hard to crack.
