Need an old AGP graphics card:

Anybody got an old GeForce 2 or 3 they'll let go for really cheap (or maybe just pay shipping on it)? I've got a semi-decent freebee that I picked up and I'm trying to convert to a dedicated server. The only extra graphics cards that I've got lying around are really old PCI-bus 4mb cards. Call of Duty keeps crashing every time I try to load it into dedicated mode, and I think it's the old busty graphics cards. Could be a decent opportunity to offload some of that archaic hardware that is just cluttering up your room...

i got a 64mb GeForce 2 GTS sitting in my GF4600 box....

I'm not sure if I'm ready to part with it tho.....Lemme think about it.....if I do, it'll probably be for like $15 shipped....the GTS is still a good card if not better compared to the newer nVidia MX cards

It's still got to run the actual CoD program, though. It doesn't run just a console app, unfortunately. Those old PCI cards aren't DirectX compatable, and I'm betting that CoD uses DirectX calls even in their menu displays.

hmm.. maybe try ebay? You could probly pick one up REALLY cheap there.

and are you sure theres not just a dedicated server app you can download thats just the console? I know you can do that for like quake 3, and other games... you might want to look into it

I got it figured out. Turns out it wasn't the graphics card, after all. Or well, it may have been, but I got it to work without it.

I've got one of those too, but it came out of my parents' old PIII machine and the key on the card was different than the key on BustyServer's AGP slot. I'd never heard of such a thing. It came out of a Dell, so I'm thinking that they may have keyed the slot to require a certain "Dell specific" graphics card. :dunno:

The TNT 2 card was a blatant copy of the VooDoo 3000 card which was a 3dfx card. 3dfx was the father of the High end graphics card companies. 3dfx sued Nvidia and won millions in the judgement so instead of paying the fine nvidia bought 3dfx and that is history

It's not PCI, either. The slot is set back further from the end of the mobo, just like an AGP card. It's just not keyed like an AGP card.
