So...Nate, could you talk to the powers that be and tell them you have someone that would gladly lock up that motor and trans for them...and could do it all in one night before they crush it?

Re: Cash for clunkers...

better idea... we could have a team of volenteers to run the piss out of them instead of just locking up the engines and crushing them, than everyone wins (well sorta, better than one side just totally loosing..)

1 side still gets to have the cars destroyed, and the other side gets to drive them hard enough to break them like they all want to, but usually can't cause they don't feel like putting 40k+ into the car cause of broken parts...

what isn't bad about chevrolet giving an incentive to buy a chrysler, and then paying 8k for a pt cruiser? everything about that seems bad haha

Instead of destroying the cars the should build a ton of huge Pull-A-Parts around the country. Not only are they the greatest places on earth, they are a prime example of recycling that works and benefits everyone.

my roommate works at a ford dealer and they get paid to blow the cars up, they drain the oil out of them and put this stuff in. starts out as a liquid then when it reaches a certain temp it crystallizes and seizes everything up

Meanwhile the govt. could actually make some money back on the cars if they sold them to junkyards & salvage yards where they could be completely disassembled & parted out...I am all for getting older beat up "clunkers" off the road, but there can still be some money maid off the salvaged parts from the cars rather than crushing them & becoming nothing more than paper-weights...

Re: Cash for clunkers...

yeah... whats the point of doing that to the engine? seems like a waste, but then again our government is incredibly wasteful... it would be crazy for them to try and use tax payers money efficiently

this whole program is a waste of money and screwing over the economy in multiple ways.... think of the damage its caused used car dealers?

if they would take those body parts and sell them to auto shops such that they had to discount them to end users they could make more money in the end than just destroying them

Well we had a 96 S10 that seemed pretty worthless to me after all the crap we had to do to it. In good news though Ford has had their first sales gain in 19 months.

Just thought that was quote worthy.

Also, this Cash for Clunkers I had only heard of recently. What an absolute garbage idea. Giving owners double or triple (or more) what a car is actually worth and then just trashing it completely? I don't see any iteration of this plan being worthwhile. More failconomics.

Fine. Leave because you don't like my political views in the off topic area of a Mustang site. Not my fault you get all upset over someone with different views than yours.

Quote:

Right, so in 06 the Democrats got the House and Senate back and ruined it in 2 years and the only use of vetos Bush was allowed was for science and keeping the war going...... all those trillions of dollars spent between 2001-2008 were all on the Democrats.

You die hard Republicans really need to get your **** straight on how long it takes to ruin an economy. Is it 8 years? 2 years? When Reagan was in office he was credited for the DotCom boom because Republicans claim it takes 8 years for economic change to take effect. Then when it collapsed Republicans blamed Clinton for the same reason. But now it's 2 years because that's when Democrats happened to take over and they suck.

I never said Bush was the only person to make bad decisions. Democrats are responsible too. Both parties have ****ed over this country but you keep on keeping on with your die hard Republicans **** YEA train of thought. They suck less so you vote for them and think that's patriotic.

Looky, you can quote silly sayings. DRILL BABY DRILL! MAVERICK!

Guns guns guns. That seems to be all Southern Republicans give a **** about in the bill of rights. None of you gave a **** when your 4th amendment rights were being violated by a Republican. Wonder why... I guess that right isn't as important.

The trashing of the engine is so the engine doesn't pollute.... you can disagree with the Democrats on the enviroment but it's not hard to see why they are destroying the engine... I mean the main point is to get vehicles off the road because they pollute more and get people into less polluting vehicles.

One thing I think should have been in the bill was that it would only be allowed for American cars..... I mean, if you are going to waste tax payer dollars then you might as well keep the money in America.
