Need some help here.

Ok...was driving around today and saw a red gt for sale at a local dealership....so I stopped in. It's an 01 GT 5 speed, fire red, grey interior, 54k miles. Body is in perfect shape, interior is flawless, engine pulls hard and fine (got a little loose shifting down from 5th to 4th at 90....) Ok, my question is what do you think is a reasonable price for it? Their price on it is 15,580, I said that's way to high so they started coming down. Well..I got em down to where it'll be 8k difference between trading my car in and the gt. They are wanting to give me 7k for my car trade in. Just wondering what I should do here....and figured someone could help me out.

O yeh, the car is completely stock, not a single thing done interior, exterior, or engine, besides tires. My main problem is...it's red.

go for it. if you really want that car and they know it and you give them an offer laying it flat they more then likely will honor it.

Go to www.kbb.com and see what they paid for it as a trade in.

I'd do it, but options and such do make a difference as does the zip code.

I just punched in a 01 GT, no options, 54k miles in excellent condition and the trade in value is $9,250.

Same car retails for $13,685.

That seems fair to me. I sold my 00 GT 2 years ago for $12500 (it was white). I wanted 14k for it, but no one wanted it because it was white. It had 40k miles on it at the time. 12k (your car plue 5k) seems pretty fair to me, specially if you walk in with cash in hand.

I would not pay more than 13k for that car (the 01 GT)...

If you look around, there are GTs with less milage and newer (02s and 03s) going for between 12500 and 13500

I think I'm gonna offer 13 and see what they say. And my insurance is only cheaper if the car is older than mine...

Ok, you can now officially ignore this thread. No more hopes of a GT for me.
