Great news

Well I know I havent said anything over here before but I have been ranting alot over at FSB. Basically since I am a reservist when I get home from over here my orders are up, and I will be a traditional reservist for the first time in my career. yep been in 3 years and have never been a traditional reservist, been on active duty since i left for basic. anyway, that means I will have to go back to my civilian job. I work at Dicks Sporting Goods in Huntsville as a cashier. Just been on military leave for long time. But there I make about 300 a month if im lucky. that was great in HS, got me gas money and some play money. But since I am now in the real world, and dont care to move back in with my parents since I have been living on my own for 3 years now making 3 grand a month, i have been worrying about a job. Especially since I am suppose to get married in the spring. the one job hit i got, they kindly said we need someone now and cant wait till you get home from your deployment, because it is critical we get someone but keep checking back. the rest of the jobs that i could put my experience to work wanted an A&P (airframe and powerplant) license to get hired on doing what i do for the AF. the rest were sheetmetal and avionics (neither of which i have any experience) well

I called home today. Talked to Dana. She spoke with my best friends mom. Ms. Brenda said she got my resume and gave it to her boss. Well her boss liked my experience and background..probably even my nice little secret security clearence, that more or less I have a job when I get back to the States. I will be working for Westwind Technologies, INC. They have a hanger on Redstone Arsenal. Basically what they do is build/mod UH-60 Blackhawks. So I am going to get some experience in helo Maintenance to add to my C-130 background. Also means I will be postponing the inevitable (i say inevitable because there is a 99.9999999999999% chance I will do it eventually, unless i get AF flight school and commision) of switching to AD and Army for their WO program. But i just had to share the good news

Lockheed is always looking for C-130 merchanics here in Greenville. Most here are military and quite a few dont have a lic. It just means you dont get the dollar premium for having your A & P. But depending on how much experience you have you get waived on the P and just take the test.

i can get it through the AF but from what my searching and asking has gotten me is you have to have 10 years experience on that airframe.....that would be a good option if i wasnt going to be doing this. I would love to get out of AL and get back to TX. SC isnt on the top of my list...OK and TX are the top two AL #3 only because of Dana's family is there

No with the shortage of good people we hire people right out of the AF with 4 years. There are other places for 130's including L-3 in Texas
