anyone familiar with old school vw bugs?

I might be picking up a late 60-early 70's bug from a friend within the next couple months. I was wanting to find out if anyone knew of any good websites for them for modding them. I plan to put in a new turbo motor, but I have no clue where I need to go to find pricing/info on it. Thanks

The only thing that would stop me from buying it is if i could actually find a older 5.0 in the same shape for the same price. Which isn't very likely. The interior is perfect and there is only 1 dent on the body. It needs a tune up and very little brake work. Just needs a new seal and it's good to go and they only want 2200 for it.

Well TECHNICALLY you don't have the money yet, you have the potential to make the money, but you don't TECHNICALLY have it. My advice, man, just save it and get the truck paid off, IMO there is no need for you to have ANOTHER vehicle to spend money on when you spend enough on the truck as it is.

P.S. VW bug: Thats NOT what Im talkin bout. Hippie

Haha, your gonna buy a bug. When I used to work at the gas station there was this crazy lady that was maybe 80 or so and came in all the time. She always brought her cats with her(like 4 of them), she smelled like Old Bay, and she drove this puke orange late 60's early 70's(??) bug. Thing was so ratty and gay.

yes

you know that there has been hundreds of murders that owned mustangs, probably had their hands in building mustangs, and maybe murdered some ford customers...is that going to stop you from buying it?

yeah, hitler had his hand in the creation of VW, but its not like he hand crafted every single one of the cars to kill a Jew, its a ****ing car, not a murder weapon, not his legacy, nothing on VW says "created by Hitler"

get over it

BUT, its still a vw bug. Chicks drive bugs. In fact a good friend of mine, who happens to be a female, drives a bug, 76 i believe. Regardless if Hitler had anything to do with it, its still retarded.

I've worked on old school bugs.

Mostly had to fix problems their well intentioned but fumble fingered owner's did to them.

Oh yeah, don't forget the famous leaky gas line in the Super Beetles. My landlord's 74 had a nice engine compartment fire when his let go and dumped gas ontop of the engine. I had fun fixing the "repair" that someone did to that.
