I'm gonna call bull**** on that. I don't think it's real.

I don't care if you're as built as Brent, you can get a damn cinder block off your chest in that situation. All he had to do was roll a little. He almost came out of the water once or twice and went back down.

The stuff he talked about at the beginning doesn't even make sense. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

When he's "unconscious," I dunno wtf the other guy was doing. It sure wasn't CPR.

all he did was mouth to mouth, he probably doesnt know CPR, and has no clue about anything he's doing

it appeared he'd give one breath, and listen, where as he should be giving 2-4 breaths

he's be better off giving mouth-to-dick

they repeatedly filmed and cut over the tape... its bull****.. im not buying it.. that guy so didnt just do that.. in that situtation you woulda forced the block off your chest for air no matter how determined you are to die or be knockd on conscience..that is why it is impossible to drown yourself in a bathtube* try it some time and get back to me.. its bull****

charkelly is right, its your bodies natural response to not let yourself drown, same reason you cant hold your breathe and try to force yourself to keep holding when you run out of air. Only way i can see you can drown is if you are under water and cant get to the surface fast enough, or if your held under by something. Obviously there are some other freak cases, but not the way that guy did. And im not sure if the stuff he was talking about in the beginning is real, i guess if i find time i'll look it up.

i think its real.

you can supress your natural instinct to push the cinder block off if you know what youre doing. obviously hes done near death or death stunts before.

you "can" hold your breath for up to 3 minutes before your brain loses consciousness. you know when you get to that 1-1.5 minute mark and your lungs start to expand and compress rapidly and your brain instinctively takes over and gets air, well people have found ways to "turn off" so to say, that instinct, and can stay underwater far longer. professional freewater divers(the ones who go down as far as they can without a tank, just on 1 breath) can last for up to 6 minutes without oxygen. its all in the mind.

I hold my breath to test myself out of boredom on long road trips. I know that point your talking about when your lungs start "gasping" for air. It's hard to do but if you stay calm after about 30 secoinds it will actually pass and your heart begins to beat slower I believe.

I've made it to 3 minutes before I had to breath one time. the key is not to move AT ALL.

I bet the guy is a recovering drug addict looking for a new "healthy" way to get a buzz!!
But if I were goign to do something like that I would atleast have someone there that knew cpr JUST INCASe.

That guy was not doing cpr he was breathing for the other dude. Give him a breath wait 4 seconds breath 4 seconds yadda yadda...

i can stay under water for 2 minutes but i have to come up as soon as i start to do the gasping thing.

of course though, when i go underwater, i exhale all the air in my lungs and let my body weight take me down, where i count down how long it takes for me to get to that point. maybe this summer ill master the technique.

eclipse dude, you so can't just use numbers to say after "X minutes" blah blah blah happens. Everybody is different.

The **** he is trying to talk about at the beginning does exist, but it's nothing like he explains it. There's a thing at the back of your throat called an epiglottis. That, not the vocal chords, will prevent water from entering the lungs if water comes in contact with it. The vocal chords have no function other than adjusting the pitch, etc of noises you make. If water contacts the epiglottis, breathing will become extremely difficult or impossible. This is known as "dry drowning" because it can happen with only a drop of water. I've seen people in this situation, and it is not fun.

in short, he's a dumbass, and this is fake.

I used to be able to reach near the 3 minute mark...but now....half a lung down, I can only get 2 minutes, on dry ground, without mustering a breath, gonna try under water sometime and see what I can get.

If you take the breath in water that isnt above your waist then go down you seem to stay under longer.

I don't know I had a boring childhood and a pool. What do you expect.

Could be. The epiglottis will constrict your airway. I guess it's a method to prevent more water from getting in the lungs, but if it kills the person, I dunno what good it does. Biology is some weird stuff.
